- Wedding: June 2010
I just got my first and last makeup trial for my upcoming June wedding. It was so AMAZING!!! To think I was actually thinking of just hiring a MAC counter girl to do my makeup even though I was secretly afraid that I’d end up looking like someone other than myself and paying gobs of money for it. However, one day I was cruising around on Weddingbee, as I do everyday and happened to see a post about a DC/MD/VA makeup artist. My interest peaked, I clicked the post and went on the website.
Boy am I glad I did! After doing a bit of research I found out that Lori had won an award on weddingwire.com, another wedding site I frequent. I then went to that site and started reading the reviews (I’m an avid review reader). Anyway, wouldn’t you know she had not ONE negative review on there? And not only that but she responded with some kind words to each and every reviewer! Ok so at this point I’m pretty much loving her already. So I email her and she responds the very same day! We email back and forth for a few days and finally set up an appointment.
On the day of the trial Lori calls me to let me know that she is early and waiting outside in her car for me whenever I’m ready. I was. So we got started. Mind you I had promised to send Lori some pics of looks I was interested in for my big day but I was so busy I couldn’t find one. No big deal for Lori. After I was all airbrushed, blushed, shadowed, lined, lashed and glossed, I look in the mirror for the 50th time and was pleasantly surprised at the finished product. She managed to read my mind somehow and give me the EXACT look I envisioned for myself in my head, without so much as a picture or detailed explanation!
She was also sweet, funny and very nice. She explained everything she did before she did it and even referred me to a wonderful photographer.
Also, I’m not usually a makeup girl. When I do, its only eyeliner, lip gloss and depending on where I’m going, a little shadow. I tend to shy away from foundation because I don’t have time and some of it to me looks cakey and fake when applied, I like to look natural for the most part. But Lori assured me that airbrushing is in a class all its own. She was so right! I highly recommend everyone do it atleast once. It very relaxing. It feels like a cool mist on your skin. It looks so natural and smooth and it feels as light as a feather. Oh and the lashes! Lori put a set of lashes on me that just really set off the entire look. Who new lashes could make such a difference? In the end I was glam but I also looked like myself, which is exactly what I wanted. By the way, her prices are very affordable which was another big selling point for me.
Oh yea and she’s also done Emeril Lagasse’s makeup on Food Network (I love him)! Bam! Lols I couldn’t resist.
So give her a call girls you won’t regret it I promise!
