So i’m just starting to think about engagement rings and have not done a great deal of research just yet so bare with me. My girlfriend is in love with the Tiffany Soleste Cushion Cut and so that is my starting point. I really want to do a carat for her but my budget is not the 14k that Tiffanys is asking for. I’m wondering if it is even possible for under 6k? This probably isn’t the most informed post ever, but I just want to know if i’m even being releastic. My family has a jewler we have used before that does a ton of custom work and I just don’t want to tell them what I want and they tell me that is unreleastic.

Im not too knowledgeable on jewelry. Butttt, I did do a quick search of the ring your gf wants to get an idea of the style. After that I did a quick search of rings with the qualities in that ring, it looks to me like you can. Just do your research. There are some really knowledgeable bees here when it comes to jewelry so wait on them to respond! but in my 5 minute search my guess is, yes you will be able to come up with something she will love

Yes, there are a lot of rings similar to that! My ring is 1.1 carats and cost right around 6K. You should be able to do it. I recommend looking at your local jewelers for the best prices, or ordering the setting online at somehere like bluenile.com

pretty ring, she has good taste! i’m sure it’s possible. it just depends on the quality of the diamond, and the size as well. the setting is going to be the least expensive part of the ring. i’d ask your jeweler for his advice, though. just to be sure.

@RunOfTheDill: It is probably is, I’d go on pricescope.com in rocky talky and ask them for recomendations. They’re very knowledgable on custom work.

It is possible to make that ring for $6,000, but you will probably have to do a little research. I would stay away from custom designers, because custom designs add to the total cost and may put you above your budget. I reccomend looking for a website that features the style already, even if it’s offered with some other gemstone or simulant. They can probably source a good diamond for you and set it n that setting. That way you will get the ring you want, but not have to pay the Tiffany price.

THANKS FOR ALL THE RESPONSES. I cam accross the Vera Wang double halo the past hour of research and thought it was very pretty as well but they want 8k for a 1 carat center stone and i’m pretty positive Zales isn’t putting the best quality diamonds on these so its probably way over priced. Thanks for all the help so far, I really appreciate it.

Absolutely. My ring is inspired by the Soleste and Fiance paid under 5. I can’t seem to post pics from my phone but you should be able to find some in my other posts. He went to a jeweler he knew, like you have, and showed them a pic and they custom-made the setting, only I wanted a round centre stoneibstead of a cushion. Good luck!!

You should be able to get that ring in your budget. You may have to drop down in color for the diamond (going with an H or I or even a J color will certainly help with costs) and get gold for the setting instead of platinum (gold isn’t as high as it used to be).

You can definitely get that ring with that budget. This setting is very similar: http://www.debebians.com/cushion-baby-split-double-halo-engagement-ring.html
The setting does not include a center stone, but you can find that online or locally.

I found a similar setting on James Allen’s website (I’ve bought there before with no issues) and it looks very similar (in my opinion) to the Tiffany ring but the setting is less than $2k ($1925 to be exact)
I also made a mock up of the ring with a 1.01 carat E-VS1 cushion cut diamond ($4,330) and the total for that ring is $6255 (a little over your budget but you could change the specs of the diamond to get it lower price) and they have financing.
Just letting you know there are many gorgeous rings that you can do within your budget!

@RunOfTheDill: is your girlfriend going to be happy with a copy? Or does the Tiffany name matter as well?I went to the Tiffany & co site and a 1/2 carat genuiine soleste begins @ $7K, just a little over budget.
That being said, I think you could get a reasonable replica with more carat weight within your budget. As others have suggested research is key. going with a reputable company is essential. There have been two posts recently where a Tiffany design was “commissioned” (different jewelers) and both were apparent disappointments.
for reference, here is a pic of a bee with a Tiffany soleste .4ct:
Good luck, keep us posted on what you get her!

I don’t think you can do a Soleste replica with a 1 ct center stone for 6k. For a decent copy of the setting, expect it to cost 4-6k. That leaves maximum 2k for the center stone. You’ll need a reasonably white center stone since it’s a cushion and will be surrounded by so much pave, so your size options are pushed down. If you’re trying to do more than a half-carat double halo for 6k, I’d think you’ll be experiencing significant decreases in quality. I would also not do a double halo in anything but platinum, personally.
Your best bet is to either find an acceptable stock setting for around 3k and then go for an H/I Si2 diamond in the biggest size you can find, or buy a used version.

@distracts: did you find the two earlier posted settings to not be up to par?
