mjay :  I wouldn’t worry too much. Once they change their tune, stop making so many mistakes, start accepting fault for poorly made products and actually start to have some respect for their customers THEN they will start to get their business back! 😉

Ugh, this is terrible. I was going to have a fun 5 stone band made, not anymore. I took a close look at my earrings they made and guess what!? The prongs are completely off! For example, the top prongs on one earring are on the side of the stone on the left side and more on top of the stone on the right side….

DrAtkins :  I love those earrings! Is that antique cushions? What size?

But you’re right, TOTALLY offset. You should let them know so they are aware of these issues.

Wth is going on over there???

mjay :   hm2012 :  Yeah I’m a little ticked off, but the prongs are so tiny I doubt anyone will notice, and unlike a ring I’m not staring at them on the side of my head all day so hopefully they won’t drive me too crazy. What is frustrating is that I asked for OMCs (based off a post on their IG I saw that had OMCs on posts with double claw prongs – I wanted the same just with lever backs) and when they first made them they were OECs! I don’t think they know the difference between OEC/OMC. So I had to wait like 3 weeks for the job to be fixed because they were away for a holiday. Aaand it just seems like they probably removed the OECs and popped in the OMCs as quick as they could to get the product to me. I just looked at the other earring and it’s just as bad. GAHHH

They are 5 mm OMCs E/F colorless

If I purchased from them again I wouldn’t go with the colorless, either. They seem pretty dull as far as moissanites go.

mjay :  I guess I’m one of the few guy weddingbees on here. Ha. But seriously, that’s not cool! Who the f*** is in charge of quality control! I’d be so pissed.

Sorry you’re having that type of experience. I too had a bad experience with a couple sellers. I’d post to reddit’s moissanite page if I were you. Seems like every day there are reviews saying how Tianyu is amazing.

That’s just not right. First your ring. And now those earrings that were just posted. You guys are probably not the first and probably not going to be the last. Smh. Shame on them.

mjay :  That is sad…if they wanted the post to end, they could have made it right and we would be talking about that. Based on the prices, it couldn’t be that much more to absorb and I am sure it could be resold or the metal reused.  The stone could just go back into stock…IDK.  The way customer service works over there is very different.  If you go through Alibaba, they have more control over who wins and how they are rated.  When it is PP, usually the buyer wins.  That is why they push for sales through Alibaba to improve their rating score for their business.  I wish I had better advice but I can’t think of any way to fix this other than if you want to have the jeweler do it at your own cost so you can love the ring or do it and just sell it on once it is fixed.

DrAtkins :  I am pretty sure this has happened before over on PS.  I have learned that you should call it the round OEC and the square ACC or they use the OMC interchangeably. I don’t think anyone will notice the prongs and they will look pretty small in person. I bought some 4.5 loose ones for earrings but I haven’t done anything with them yet.

DrAtkins :  those definitely look like they were set by an amateur! What type of craftsmen is this company hiring? They’re stunning earrings no doubt- but the lack of attention to basic detail is evident upon closer inspection. Those prongs are undeniably wonky.

So, from a pragmatic POV. They are offering you $100. Why not just ask them to cover the repair costs (you say $120-$150) and just take it? Its shady AF, but at least you’ll have the ring of your dreams! Did you try to file a credit card dispute?

mjay :  I figured after they’d offer $100 it would be an easy counter to $150, too bad. This is all so frustrating, I’m sorry bee!

angelwaye :   dobby98 :  I’m sure there isn’t one! At least, it should be whoever the rep you’re working with is – but I think that they’re so new to the “fine jewelry” game (and more used to working with costume jewelry) that they just don’t have the expertise to execute every design 100% of the time – esepcially with the growing pains they’re going through.

The prongs are so tiny that I’m sure no one will notice in person. And it helps that they’re white gold and pretty much blend in to the earring. Right now I’m pretty relieved I didn’t end up going with rose gold, as I think it would be SO much more obvious.

Another lesson in “you get what you pay for.” I think for things like earrings and maybe bezel pendants they would be fine to use, but I would never trust them for an engagement ring after seeing the work on my earrings and OP’s ring!

DrAtkins :  They’re definitely going through growing pains. Seems like they have a high volume right now especially with the holiday season. I agree maybe right now engagement rings buyers should be aware of their challenges atm until they can sort themselves out. The only thing I’ve been disappointed in is how they manage dissatisfied customers. A little more understanding goes a long way. Eating the cost of Mjays ring would have kept things better under control but here we are.

Give them some time. They have been turning out some nice pieces before I’m sure they can do it again. They still have nice stones if anyone wants to take advantage of that. The take away is you do get what you pay for and have to remember Tianyu is new to this game of customization. Keep it simple I say.

 I still love those earrings.
