So we just orderd my wedding dress a week ago and the bridal store said it will not be in until April 15. My wedding is May 15. Im kinda freaking myself out because when we tried on the sample dress it fit but was a little snug, then the sales clerk took my measurments and said according to the chart we need to order the dress 3 sizes bigger. This seem to confuse her because she thought the sample dress fit. I just ended up telling her to go with what the chart says cause if it does end up being to big its easier to take a dress in then to let it out. Theres no doubt in my mind we are going to need alterations of some sort. Im just worried that if it actually does come in on the day that they say, we will only have 4 weeks to get everything altered. Thats also if the bridal store ordered the dress on this past monday like they said they would. (I put my down payment on it last saturday). If its just my nerves please let me know!!! Thanks!!!

You are cutting it a little short, but what I would suggest is make sure you have a seamstress who is ON TOP OF IT. Don’t be scared to find a private seamstress away from your bridal store… they can give you the personal attention you need. My seamstress said she can even do any last minute alterations on the day of!
Go in as soon as the dress comes in and get it fitted that day. If you have someone good (find them now and make sure they have the time in april) they can alter it within the week.
Start researching for someone now though!

If the store gave you that date, they must be confident they can finish the alterations in time. My dress is also arriving a month before the wedding. The contract says there’s a “rush alterations fee” for anything less than 4 weeks. I’m hoping to go with an independent seamstress and bypass that, but at least I know there are options if I can’t find anyone else.

My dress is supposed to be coming in 4 wks before the wedding, and I need some farily significant alterations (changing the entire neckline). Since I ordered it from netbrides instead of a shop, I’ve already started looking for seamstresses, and they all told me 4-6 wks is ideal to do alterations, but they can always put a rush (for an extra fee of course).
Plus, you always have the chance of it coming in earlier!!
