So my fiancé and i have always entertained the idea of having genuine wooden invitatioNs for our wedding. Turns out we’re now planning our wedding and are coming up on the phase where we need to make a decision and get those suckers made! I’ve been searching online and came to the realization that wooden invites are insanely expensive – PAPER invites are even ridiculously expensive. I’ve tried to explaine the $$ sense behind going with the paper option but he insists I find something that falls in line with our original vision of using wood..
Any Bees out here have a good recommendation? place you used? Decently priced? Please help!

Well wood would also be really expensive to ship depending on the weight, but here are a few ideas if you are willing to DIY
1) buy wood veneer and cut very cafefully with a sharp exacto knife the right size, then decopage or glue onto it a preprinted invitation on paper.
2) buy a paper invitation and put it in a narrow box for delivery and fill it with wood shavings
3) buy hobby wood squares and like #1, decopage or nail with decorative short nails/tumbtacks the invite to it.
4) Go straigt up paper with a wood texture printed onto it and promise him you will use wood in the centerpieces 🙂

@ThreeMeers: Thanks for the suggestions unfortunately neither my fiancé
nor I are the DIY kind of people – I’m certainly not that creative. If i even attempt at something like that it’s going to look like a first grade craft project gone wrong LOL!! In our case this would certainly be one of those projects best left to the professionals Ha!
To be honest we actually got it in our heads that we wanted to use wooden invitations four years ago when we went to a wedding with invites actually were made out of wood. They were amazingly beautiful! TBH the weight of them wasn’t any heavier than your standard postcard so I’m not too concerned about the shipping related costs. I’ve seen on several websites and even on ETSY we can have laser enscripted wording on them so I wouldn’t even have to do anything like pasting the actual paper invitation on them.
I’m trying to find something like that without having to spend a ridiculous amount on each individual card. At the end of the day you pay for what you get – I understand that, but one can be hopeful and hopefully somebody knows of a good deal someplace.
