Okay, cheesy title for the thread, but I just love Thanksgiving and Christmas. It’s always made me happy to be able to potentially spend the holiday with friends and/or loved ones. I love the sights and smells associated with them, and how some people become a little more forgiving or nicer on those holidays. I know it’s not always the case, but I like to look at the positives in this case. 🙂
Do you have a favorite holiday? List ’em, take the poll, and tell us why you love the holiday(s). I tried to include ‘standard’ holidays, but I know the poll would be way too long if I included everything, so feel free to list ones not mentioned!

@Sweet_Tea: You forgot Anniversary! lol
ETA: I forgot, my absolute fave is Christmas, but all the others are tied for 2nd place, except Memorial Day. I appreciate the men and women of service, but we don’t have a fun party or anything.

I love my birthday – because it’s MINE!! Ha 😉
I really love Easter. It holds such happy memories for me as a kid, every year I used to go to a Christian event during Easter and it was the happiest time in my life. I really miss it.
I also picked Christmas – I used to not enjoy Christmas because my mum and dad always go on holiday over the Christmas period. I was always dumped with other family or close friends. However, since Fiance and I have been together I now love it as I spend it with him.
Valentines Day is my absolute favourite because I get to spoil my love and get romantic. We go all out. Gifts, flowers, champagne, night away, meal out. I live for February 14th. Next year we are staying at our wedding venue and enjoying their Valentine’s special. – I’m so excited. We’re planning to do it the following year as well. (2015) I will be so flipping excited by then because our wedding will be only 2 months away…squee!

@jadlnc: Added Anniversary! lol

Our Anniversary is a good one to celebrate. I want to celebrate all 3 eventually. (Dating, engagement and married) not in a big way just an acknowledgement. I’m really into celebrating life events.

I’m a total homebody on my birthday- I hate when people make a fuss out of my birthday, although last year I had to practically beg my SO to go out to dinner with me.
I like his birthday because I get to surprise him, I wish he put more effort into my birthday but I hate surprises (especially on my birthday) so it’s kind of difficult, which is really my fault, not his.

I voted wrong! I forgot about Guy Fawes (also known as bonfire night – 5th Nov). I work for a firework company in my spare time so the weekends near the 5th Nov are very very busy. I love it!

I have always LOVED Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love the music, the movies, the food, and most importantly getting together with family. This year will be really different because Darling Husband and I moved across the country from all of our family 🙁 The good thing is that our baby will most likely be here before Thanksgiving (unless I’m 10 days late, yikes!), so I’m looking forward to baby’s first Christmas :).

Bonfire Night is awesome with FI’s family. Because everyone goes to different places at Christmas, we all get together for fireworks at his Grandma’s house. It’ll be my 6th year in November and I’ve loved every one! 🙂
I’m also a little Christmas obsessed…. I start thinking about it in August!

@Miss Jackrabbit: bonfire night is epic. I love it too. It makes November fun and the winter is less boring with that to look forward to. I’ve already started Christmas shopping…it keeps me excited and helps me budget.

My birthday, our anniversary, Halloween and Christmas – in that order

Halloween and 4th of July are my favorite holidays. I hate Christmas.

We’re not Christian, so Christmas is always an awkward time.
My favorite holiday is Halloween.

I don’t celebrate Christmas, Halloween and Easter so I can’t check those off, but I do love that time of year. For sure my favorite holiday of all is Thanksgiving, and I’m really excited because my husband, sister and I are all going to Detroit to visit my dad this year. He just moved there at the end of June and I’ve never lived in a different state than him, so I’m really excited to see him again. After that, I also love New Years and Valentine’s Day. Clearly I like Valentine’s Day since it’s my wedding anniversary, but we don’t really celebrate in any sort of typical Valentine’s way.
