Congrats! I bet it feels so great for such a long, seemingly-arduous process to be over and now to officially have what will likely be your last name forever!

@Lyndzo:  Yay! Congrats! My certificates just arrived yesterday and I just changed my Driver’s license this afternoon (I already changed all the other IDs with the church certificate, it was only the driver’s license that needed the provincial one). The only things I have left to change are the insurance and my credit card!

Side note: Isn’t it ridiculous how you only have 90 days to change your name without having to pay but it takes 70 days for your marriage to be registered then you need the mail time for the certificate to get to you then the mail time for your application to get to them? That annoyed me so much!

@Lyndzo:  I ranted about it SO MUCH! Darling Husband is glad that I changed my name but he says now that he understands why his aunt didn’t change her name. He says it’s a lot of trouble and he’s glad he’s the guy and doesn’t have to do it.

New birth certificate? Is this a Canadian thing? In the US, we apply for a new social security card, but birth certificates stay the same. Just curious!

@iheartnerds:  It is a Canadian thing. If you legally change your name instead of assuming it they issue a new birth certificate with your new last name. Your old last name is on the next line as “nee: old-lastname”.

@ScottishMrs:  Interesting! Thanks for clearing that up.
