Aww cute idea!  I really can’t think of anything to write though.  It may be silly but I was thinking maybe you could make it like it’s a message from your dog’s perspective saying that guests should help donate to all his old friends in the shelter.

Could you do a picture of the two of you with your baby? I think it still functions as a favor that way, to send your guests away with a picture of your “family.” You could do the photo on one side of the card, and on the back say: Instead of a traditional wedding favor, we have made a donation to the XYZ Animal Shelter, where we adopted Fluffy, to express our gratitude for the blessing of family and friends.

That’s something I might actually keep on the fridge or in a scrapbook or photo album. I think what you’re doing is a lovely idea! (our doggy is a rescue, too, and is our world).

Today, in lieu of favors, we would like to make a donation to the _____shelter to help bring awareness and care to animals in need.  We feel that the best gift is one which helps others, whether human, or 4 legged. Thank you so much – we are truly honored that you are here with us today.

I think the suggestion above works. IMO this is such a lovely idea.

I saw something similar online and thought of doing the EXACT same thing – instead of putting pictures of adoptable dogs, putting a picture of OUR dog!  lol.  I’m really interested on finding out what you decided to do because we haven’t decided yet and our wedding is in 3 weeks!

I’ve also seen where people have a cut out shape of their dog and write the message on that – they’d put it by their guestbook or escort cards – something similar to this:

(this originally came from weddingbee and I had pinned it on Pinterest).
