Don’t include any information about the registry.  If you don’t have a wedding website, you can make one and include maps and info about the registry there.  When you write out the invitations, include only those names on the envelopes of people who are over 18.

I think it’s pretty much a given that some people will not understand that children are not invited and they’ll try to RSVP for their children (or just extra people) and then you have to put your foot down and tell them the space is limited and no children are invited.  That’s tough, but otherwise your guest list can get out of control!

On the website, I encluded directions from any large surrounding cities, additional info, and where we are registered. I did this because personally I have never been a fan of direction inserts or where we are registered inserts. (that’s just me personally I have never had an ill feelings about recieving invites with those items included though)

Oh, I forgot to say… some people do a separate reception card, especially if the reception is in a different place than the ceremony.  We’re not doing that with ours, partially because it’s all one venue and partially because we’re trying to keep the envelopes light so we don’t have to pay for extra postage.  So, we’re doing the invite and the RSVP card (which is really just instructions on how to RSVP on our website), and that’s it!

So on our wedding invitations we just have a simple, together with our parents, we invite you to join us as we begin our journey, on this day, at this time, dinner and dancing to follow.

We have probably one enclosure that will include some information about the area, as well as the wedding website.

Do not include registry information on your invitation in any form.

For RSVPs and not having kids – I have seen some rsvp’s that say please no kids. I think that the best way to do it, which has seemed to work for people and is what we are going to do, is to define on the RSVP how many seats are reserved. you would tihnk that people would get it based on who the invitations is actually addressed to but, they don’t. So it would be something like this:

We have reserved 2 seats in your honor.

of course nicer than that but you get the gist. And even then someone may write in an extra and you will just have to politely say that you do not have the bduget for anyone more than you planned for. Sorry!

@Beckster329:  lol thanks me too! We skimped on a lot of other stuff so provide budget room for the meals because our favorite thing to do is host dinner parties, and we figured hey this is the biggest one ever so the food has to be awesome lol.

Also the Fiance & I are low carbing it till the wedding, so the first normal meal I am going to have is going to be at my wedding & my cake will be the first dessert I’ve had in MONTHS. All of which I am actually finding very sentimental for some reason lol.
