“Anecdote” when you mean “antidote.” This one gets me! A woman I work with (who has a PhD from Harvard) says this all the time.

And of course, “No offense but…” is an all-time classic. I always brace myself for the worst when someone starts out with this puppy!

P.S. @pccl that story is hilarious.

@JM1217: actually ‘monies’ is a word, and it is the formal plural for money.

it is not however used in casual language. it is more frequently used in the financial industry.

I hate it when people use the word “great” all the time. The other word is “obviously”. One of my friends always uses “obviously” when its not required. Its really annoying.

@SapphireSun: Oh my God, for some reason I assumed that was a ridiculous British thing.

Whatevs, along with ‘totes’ (totally), and ‘obvs’ (obviously), sound absolutely ridiculous. Use the full word, damn it!

I hate it when someone says/texts “want” instead of “won’t.”  It drives me bonkers.  It’s just confusing!

And any text talk I HATE… when people shorten words like you to u… it’s even worse when they write that way on facebook.  Ugh!
