Haha I studied in the UK for a while and came to love certain words like whilst, mate, quid, etc. now when I see them on the bee, it makes me feel all nostalgic! I still say “whereabouts” out of habit, and often get strange reactions. I love seeing the UK words and phrases on the bee!!

Oh, and this one seems to come up a lot. I can always spot a non-US bee by her use of the word “university” instead of “college.” Love it!

I liked a post where a UK bee posted and mentioned that a guy called her “petal.” I think thats just adorable.

I haven’t seen it much, but keen always makes me smile and think of Australia!

@LilliePad:  Same here! I had to explain which “uni” I was attending when I studied there. 😀 I also like the UK spellings (favour, colour, theatre, etc.) because people look at me like I’m crazy when I spell my words like this in the States. Embarassed

I also love seeing the words “heaps.” It makes me miss my friend, an Aussie exchange student that stayed with us when I was in high school.

Being an Aussie bee, none of those words sound at all strange or endearing to me! Lol.. But I love seeing the word ‘mom’ or any of it’s derivatives! It’s just so sweet and somehow takes on a whole new level of loving, I guess coz most of the bees are gushing about being new mommas!
