I have been dieting for about 6 months now and in the last month my weight lose has seemed to have come to a complete halt. I need to lose like 60 lb before June and am looking for something that I could do about an hour a day that could help me reach my goals. I was thinking swimming laps would do it, but IDK if that would just increase my stamia while not producing visual results. I already have a decent amount of stomach and leg musual built up from the floor excersies I have been doing irregularly. Any advice would be really helpful.

@Koolbeans621: Swimming is actually really good for you and would probably produce some great results! I also recommend high intensity interval training and weight lifting!

Jillian Michael’s has some great dvd’s that range from 35 minutes to 50 minutes. They involve cardio and weights. Weight lifting is good because it tones your body and also tightens everything up. You can buy the dvd’s online for about $7-$10 but you’ll have to buy weights too. If you can do a video a day and cardio for the rest of the hour you should see some results. In most of her videos she does 3-2-1 systems which is 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio, 1 minute of abs and repeat. It doesn’t seem hard but they are and they work.I’ve done ripped in 30 and the 30 day shred and seen results.
I’ve also completed P90X and that shows good results too but I got very tired of it and it’s more expensive. Every other day is cardio and opposite days are just weights and lifting. I prefer more of a mix (I really like doing cardio), so only doing cardio 3x a week didn’t work for me. That’s why I got so sick of it. The ab ripped dvd is awesome (hurts but you’ll see results ie a flatter tummy).
I also don’t like the Yoga X dvd so I made that my day to do whatever I felt like doing (mostly going to the regular gym and getting on whatever machines I felt like for that day). It was nice to have a freebie day so to speak.
Hope this helps! Let you know if you decide to try any of these!

Agree w/swimming, great way to burn calories and tone. High intensity interval training’s been shown to be one of the most efficient ways to burn calories. Second the Jillian Michaels suggestion, too.
I’m a big fan of workout dvds. A couple faves of mine are Core Fusion Body Total Body Sculpt and Hard Body Yoga by Tari Rose. Both are fantastic for building lean muscles, and I’ve had pretty quick results w/them. Toning’s important to jump-start your metabolism. Also remember that if you’re building muscle, you can be getting thinner but not necessarily losing much weight, since muscle’s heavier than fat.
Hmm…think I’ll do hard body yoga when I get home.

I learned in my nutrition class that running is a great work out because it works about every muscle.. my mom was running on treadmill for 1 hour a day and she lost so much weight that she stopped because she felt she was getting too thin. I have been running for 30 mins a day and it kicks my butt.
