Hey y’all,
I’ve been a babysitter for 11 years (since I was in middle school) and I’ve been a nanny all through college. I’m a child development and family science major. I really love kids and want to work as a pediatric occupational therapist. I have to say I nanny some really difficult kids so that may be part of it. However, I’m feeling really “burnt out” on children for a few months now. Of course, right before I’m getting married and we’ve talked about TTC in the first 6 months-1 year. Now my feelings of not really enjoying nannying are making me scared of not enjoying parenting… (don’t get me wrong, I love the kids I nanny I just don’t feel an enjoyment about doing it like I used to).
This is a question for nannies and teachers and daycare workers and anyone who is with kids all day— when you had kids, was it very different and did you enjoy it much more than taking care of all the other kids you had taken care of? I know I can’t fully understand being a parent right now, I just want to hear everyone’s experience. Thanks!
