This is a good point, everyone should know who graded their diamond; if it’s not GIA or AGS, then you can count on the grades being possibly 1-2 levels worse than reported.  Also, diamonds very much follow the “you get what you pay for” rule, and “if it’s too good to be true…” A quick search on blue nile shows a diamond with all the same stats of the original at $2k+, which makes me believe if graded by GIA it would have been graded much lower than originally thought.

Is either the old or new diamond GIA or AGS certified? If the new one isn’t, then I doubt it’s worth the upgrade price
