It sounds like this will be your first month doing any kind of charting.  37 – 47 days, especially the 37 day cycle isn’t necessarily that long.  But it makes it harder to predict when you will ovulate because you are probably ovulating around 11 – 14 days before AF.  So you might not be having sex at the right time.  I recommend getting the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility and reading it and using it to start temping to predict when you are ovulating.  I’m not pregnant yet but it seems like a lot of people don’t have 28 day cycles and are still ovulating.  You in particular are likely ovulating considering you have gotten pregnant once.

I have had irregular cycles my whole life. I was tested for PCOS (which you might want to ask about), but I did not have it. My cycles have ranged from 25 days to 78 days. No real reason as to why. My OB did suggest putting me on Clomid to help me ovulate at a certain time, but I never needed it.

We started TCC in January and were pregnant in March. I am 30weeks.

I used OPK’s for one month, but I never had a positive test. I also never tempted.

seekelevation :  I have a pretty bizarre cycle, which got nice and long right around when we stopped trying to avoid pregnancy – 34 days was my shortest, working up to I think 42.  It appears to have just reset near normal this past month.  I theorize it will slowly lengthen again but hope to be pregnant before I know that for sure.

Anyway, according to the gyno I use, as long as you’re secreting slime midway through, you are most likely ovulating (I’m paraphrasing big time, of course).  She didn’t forsee any problems and I’m 5 years older than you are.  Keep tracking and you may find your cycle actually makes more sense than it seems right now.

Don’t worry too much yet! It seems like a good sign that you’ve been able to get pregnant before. And your cycles aren’t actually that long. I was having 90+ day cycles before I got pregnant. I credit acupuncture and herbs (including vitex) with improving my cycle enough to have a healthy pregnancy. I was also taking progesterone and charting. I would definitely recommend talking to your gynecologist about all this. Don’t take any herbs or remedies without medical advice because it can actually make things worse if it’s not a good fit for your particular issues. There are actually quite a few forms of fertility assistance you can explore before you get to IVF, and some of those options are actually pretty simple in comparison. It sounds like you have a lot of reasons to be optimistic at this point. Charting should be extremely helpful since you’ll have more info to go on. Good luck!

Hi. I came off BCP in February 2016 and had 40 day average cycles. I conceived on the third cyce; I read Taking Charge of your Fertility and during second and third cycle temped and used OPKs throughout. Found I was ovulating CD 27/28. I’m now 21 weeks pregant!! I’m turning 30 in January. Don’t panic it is possible! Remember that it can take healthy couples a year to get pregnant even with perfect timing etc. Good luck bee!

seekelevation :  What I’ve learned is that longer cycles can actually be some women’s ‘normal’ and not necessarily indicative of fertility issues. After I got pregnant I had a chat with my mum and found that she too has cycles of between 5 and 6 weeks in length. She got pregnant easily three times (twice by surprise) and had no miscarriages or difficult pregnancies/deliveries. Try not to worry too much at this stage….although I know it is hard not to.
