If my Fiance didn’t find a way to contact me in 30+ hours, he would have to be dead because he’d wish he was either way.

@mixtaperomance: I don’t know whether some people’s read receipts get turned on by default but I do know that when my family members and I got our iPhone 4s, 4ses, and 5s (don’t remember which model iPhone we had when that feature came out, but we’ve had those three), it wasn’t something that was automatically on. And it didn’t turn on when we did system updates either. Those who wanted it on had to turn it on themselves. I’d think it would be a privacy concern if iPhones automatically had read receipts turned on, but that’s just me speculating.

sometimes men really just dont get it!!! I had my DH before we were married take off for 3 days and in the middle of a text convo right when he arrived at the destination… it suddenly stopped. He was SUPPOSED  to have texted me later that night (friday) but I didnt hear from him again until SUNDAY!! You better believe he got more then an earfull… he had NO idea why I was so upset and said I was over-reacting…. until he asked his other co-workers and they were all like ooooh…dude…. sorry to side with the Mrs but that was YOUR bad.

He explained when they arrived it got busy and they were doing this and this and this, and then when he realized his phone had died, so he had to charge it, and while that was going on he got busy and drunk and passed out and then woke up at 3am to pee and realized shit I didnt text her back yet….

I was mad, and still am, but believe me he never did it again lol. He just literally didnt know what the big deal is, and most guys just dont get it. I havent read all the responses but do you know where he’s staying? can you call a hotel or something?

Is it possible he’s in a bad reception spot where he texted you but they’re not coming through? I actually had that happen to me where I was sending my now DH texts when he was just my bf and I was getting SO PISSED OFF because he wasnt texting me back and we were supposed to meet but in fact my texts hadnt come through to him….and when I started driving towards where we were meeting a few hours later I finally got the “not sent” notification. I’ve had it happen with texts a day after I sent them!

@MissMarple:  hmmmm thats random. DH and I just upgraded to the 5 and it came with the read receipts turned on. I find the feature annoying (i like to have the options of answering later without people knowing i saw it right away) so i always shut it off but DH gets annoyed so he’s just left it on and tells everyone to get over it f he doesn’t answer right away lol.

Ok now I’m really curious –

How many of you actually know your SO’s/FI’s/DH’s/etc phone number by heart and wouldn’t need to look in your phone for it?

Gosh if my phone died and I needed to call him from somewhere else I’d be SCREWED.

Maybe I should memorize his number.

@BellaDee:  You guys haven’t gotten new phone numbers since you started dating?  Stupid Sprint forced us to both get new numbers when we went on a family plan together last year…I barely remember my own half the time now haha!

@ebarnes0:  I have my husband’s cell and my parents’ home numbers memorized. Otherwise, I am totally dependent on my phone for numbers…

@ebarnes0:  Yep, same here.  I only know phone numbers of people who’ve had their phone number (and were present in my life) for the last 13 years.  My college roommate is the last person whose phone number I’ve memorized.  I met her 13 years ago.  SO BAD!!!

@ebarnes0:  I don’t know FH’s cell number, i’m not even 100% sure which area code is is (there are 4 possibilities where we live).  My home, work, and cell numbers are all different area codes.  I don’t think FH knows our home number by heart and I’m almost positive he doesn’t know my cell number by heart…

@ebarnes0:  I definitely know his cell number by heart. It is our wifi password. I don’t think he has mine memorized though!

I hope you hear from him soon! He probably has bad cell reception and isn’t too worried about reaching out and telling you he’s ok. Men. They really don’t think like women. A woman would make sure to make contact somehow since she knows that she’d be worried if the roles were reversed.

Anyway, I’m sure he’s fine. Try not to worry.

@kimm99:  +1000000. Like I said about 12 hours ago, this is immature and naive behavior at best, and it’s fishy (or possibly devastating) at worst. Also, I just can’t believe how many folks don’t give travel information to loved ones when they’re away from home. That’s just crazy to me.

@ebarnes0:  yes, you should definitely memorize his number! In an accident, the odds of your phone staying nicely on your lap or in a cupholder are basically 0. Odds are it’ll be out the windshield or wedged in where your dash used to be. Not trying to scare you, but I’ve been there. You need to have the important number memorized!
