    @gemgirl6:  You say the same thing on every thread about a non-diamond stone. Are you being paid by DeBeers?

    What does it matter if a stone was mined out of a dirty hole or made in a lab?

    BluePeaches is correct when she says that diamonds are actually not very valuable. They are  not even very rare and are only valuable because the price is fixed by DeBeers which hold a near monopoly on the whole diamond industry. When you try to sell a diamond you can only recoup a fraction of the cost that you paid for it new. Why is that? It does not wear out like a car? If it was actually an object of rarity it should increase in value over time as the supply of diamonds is depleted.

    She is not, however, correct when she says lab moissanite is a simulant of natural mossanite. A chemical substance created in the lab is identical to the “natural” compound. That’s chemistry. If the atoms, bonding type, and crystal lattice arrangement are the same, then it’s identical.

    @gingernutjo:  Lol had to +1.

    My only issue is that saying “some other ‘sim'” can be very misleading, as moissanite is not a simulated diamond.

    Anyway, I am also leaning toward a moissanite for my ‘forever ring,’ so I figured I’d follow this thread. Good luck, OP! 🙂 Hope you got the proposal after all
