- Wedding: June 2013
Hi, Oregon brides!
I’m a new bee (i also think that’s very fun to say: newbie, new bee). I’m getting married June 30th of this year at Robert Newell House, outside Champoeg State Park. I’ve been engaged for almost 2 years now!
I’m trying to decide what time to have my ceremony and reception. We haven’t sent out invitations or had them printed (i drew them myself!) so there is still time to change the time. I’m nervous about ending the party after 9 because most of the invited people are my family (41 of 99, ugh), and they won’t really want to dance. But I want to dance, and I think it would be awkward during the afternoon… My fiance doesn’t really know what he prefers. From what I can tell, he is leaning toward an earlier time. I’m leaning toward later, because some of the pictures I find most amazing are the ones in the twilight. Also I think my fiance’s mom would prefer something a little more traditional, because we aren’t really doing anything traditional (self catered, mismatched bridesmaids, a bunch of colors in the palette).
I’m also nervous about the weather! The venue is great. The problem? It’s all outside. There’s no inside option. We can get a tent on reserve, just in case. But if we have the wedding later, then it might be colder. AAAnd there’s always the chance of rain, which is supposed to be good luck, I think.
Am I being ridiculous about not being able to choose a time? Any suggestions for a timeline and weather plan? Has anyone gotten married in late June or is anyone getting married in late June? Everyone knows that it doesn’t get super nice in Oregon until July 4th…
