Looks exactly like my baby did at 12 weeks.  Get an app like WTE or Baby Center and it will tell you what the baby looks like every week.

ExpectingBee:  My baby’s head was in the 98th percentile when I had a late scan at 38 weeks. He was born with a healthy middle-of-the-range head. Ultrasounds can make things like that look HUGE! But your baby looks like he or she has the standard 12 week noggin 🙂

ExpectingBee:  Just saying – your friend should be more sensitive about what she says to people!!! ESPECIALLY when they are pregnant!! Congrats OP!!

Your baby looks normal to me! Here are my 12 & 20 weeks for comparison:

As far as the gender, I had “felt” like my baby was a girl since the start of the pregnancy. Then at the 12 week appointment, there was also a large protrusion and even the ultrasound tech commented that it would most likely be a boy. It really really looked like a boy to me. But, it’s a girl!
