I had a glass of wine per week after the first trimester in all my pregnancies. It isn’t enough alcohol to be a problem at all – a sip is nothing!

Also – think of how many babies are concieved whilst drunk! People party hard, then realise they are pregnant.

The NHS is the UK puts out pretty good guidelines on what you can and cannot do during pregnancies. I have always followed them, and have had (or rather, will have in 2 weeks!!) 3 happy, healthy, full term babies.

ExpectingBee:  One sip isn’t going to hurt anything! Especially if you’re not that far along, but even if you are, it’s not going to hurt baby! Our bodies are pretty great at blocking out the bad stuff from baby.

When I was 6 weeks pregnant (I didn’t know at that point, and I was on BC) I was in Colorado visiting my best friend and we drank, I took my oxycodone while we were hiking…I was HORRIFIED when I found out I was pregnant and I had done all of that! My midwife told me to absolutely not worry, and I had a full drink..not just a sip, plus painkillers.

Nothing at all to worry about. Seriously. Ask your doc to ease your mind, but many women in Europe drink regularly while pregnant. Not recommending that, however. Lol

I agree with the PPs – you need to calm down. The stress is far more detrimental to your baby that the negligible effect of half a mouthful of vodka and soda.

You and your bub will be FINE. Try not to sweat the small stuff.

I was 8wks when i got my first positive test …in those two months i had been to dinner with my parents and had a glass of wine and had an italian meal with fl and had a glass of red wine..and i remember feeling really guilty esp because i rarely drink at all cause i don’t tolerate alcohol very well..but my midwife just told me that my stressing out would do more harm to the baby then two small glasses of wine ever would!..for ref..DS is 5 and just fine he is fast asleep snuggled next to me with his baby bears as i type this

You’re worrying too much!!!

My mom and DHs mom drank 3-4 drinks when out throughout pregnancy and we’re both fine!! Obviously, at that point, they didn’t realise the potential risks.

I plan to have the odd glass of wine during my pregnancy if it takes my fancY (haven’t been in the mood yet!!).

ExpectingBee:  Absolutely nothing to worry about hun!! Your cold will be worse for the baby than a tinsy bit of alcohol, so make sure you get better soon!!

I drank a very small glass of wine at Christmas. It’s no big deal but don’t make it a habit!

Totally and completely fine! Seriously. I’ve done a lot of reading about it, and I will likely have sips or small glasses of wine during pregnancy without worry. It was just a sip. Don’t give it another thought.
