Keep in mind that a 1.5 princess cut is the same size as a 1 ct round diamond (millimeter wise). Don’t worry.. once it’s on your finger you will love it! πŸ™‚

@weddingbound2014:  Just trust him. My fiance wanted big big big he was a size queen. We argued over this in the end he got what he wanted a 2.36 carat sapphire cut the size of a 2 carat diamond. I felt it was huge but it looks great. He’s glad he didnt push bigger because I have tiny hands and it would have looked funny at that point but he got it big enough that everyone can see it and that makes him happy. The best news is I also feel no need to ever upgrade, I’m very sentimental so upgrading would have been very difficult for me anyway. This stone is big enough that I reall feel no stone size envy at all πŸ™‚ bigger would not be better on my hands.

Mine is a 2ct halo and after getting married I don’t wear it, it’s so heavy and it is a bit- I don’t think annoying is the right word but – I don’t like how it weighs my finger down.

Iwear my graduated 5 stone wedding band and my ering lives in my jewellery box πŸ™‚

@dewingedpixie my fiancé was the same way. I had a feeling he would go big,but I was stunned when I realized it was a 4.5 carat princess cut center with a quarter on either side. The cut keeps it from feeling too big on my size 5 finger.

@weddingbound2014 my setting is similar to yours, I’m still getting used to it. I feel like it’s slightly elevated and I catch it on things, like when I reach into my purse.

@weddingbound2014 I seriously think we are wedding twins.  πŸ™‚

I had the exact same issue—I hate prongs and felt like the solitaire bezel setting looked really bad, so I’m going for a halo… but I’m afraid that adding the halo will make the whole ring much more extravagant-looking than I want.  I feel torn between wanting something not that flashy, and just thinking that most non-halo designs are not that pretty.

I’m glad to see how nicely yours worked out (it really doesn’t look overwhelming at all).  we’re meeting with the jeweler tomorrow, so now I’m feeling more relaxed about going for a halo.
