Hi Hive! I’m less than 2 months away and still trying to figure out details for our ceremony. We are getting married outside in Oklahoma in the summer. It’s going to be hot! We love short, sweet, and to the point ceremonies. I have a good friend with an amazing voice and she will sing while our guy friend plays the guitar. I have gone back and forth with at what point to have them play. I think we are going to save some time and awkward stares from our guests and have them sing while the grandparents and parents are being seated. We were going to have them sing while we plant a plant (instead of the unity candle we wanted something different and more use, so we are using the plant analogy to describe God’s love, and scripture will be read while we are doing this) but we changed out minds.
Problem is I am at a lost for what song to use. I couldn’t decide if I wanted a praise and worship song, or what? I don’t want it to completely feel out of place or weird because when my BM’s walk down the aisle it will be to a recorded song.
Any ideas or suggestions?

One thing that I’ve considered doing is have instrumental worship songs as the prelude/seating music. I know this wouldn’t involve your singing friend, but it could be an option. Then it would still be there, but wouldn’t necessarily be out of place since it’s just “pretty music.” That’s always an option. But in the meantime, I’m going to keep thinking and searching. I love this kind of thing, and I have thought a lot about it for my own wedding. 🙂
Here’s a youtube video of How Great is Our God on acoustic guitar.

I do love How Great is Our God. The one thing I am struggling with is the song that my friend will sing while the parents and g-parents are being seated needs to transition into my bridesmaids walking down the aisle to recorded music…
I’m at a lost and have to figure it out sooooon!
Thanks for the suggestion!

ohhhh, I LOVE the How Great is Our God idea! Maybe the friend can sing this? Sounds like a good idea to praise God for the beautiful day, the love you found, and for all the friends and family at the wedding! What song are your Bridesmaid or Best Man coming in to?
