I also forgot about my first “date” (if you’d call it that) with my ex-boyfriend. We’d been dating for about three weeks and it was the fourth of July. I was out of state staying with relatives for the summer. Ex-bf didn’t want to come and stay at my house because he didn’t like one of my relatives. He said he wanted “privacy”. Since his house was extremely dirty (like hoarders-style), he didn’t want to bring me there, either. So, he told me he wanted to take me to a hotel. I was very young and naiive, and I guess rather spoiled hotel-wise. So, I figured he’d take me to the Holiday Inn or Hampton Inn & Suites or something. WRONG!
First of all, the guy didn’t have a car, so his father’s cousin drove them to come and pick me up. It was me, him, his father, and his father’s cousin. So awkward. Ex-bf asked if they could stop us by the grocery store on the way to what I thought was going to be the Hampton Inn. We awkwardly circled the “personal care” aisle multiple times, with the condom section sticking out like a sore thumb. He kept saying, “Do we need anything else?” Finally, he stopped and grabbed the condoms and said, “I’m gonna get these just in case.” So, we had to buy condoms in front of his dad and cousin.
After we left the grocery store, they drove us to this little, sleaze-bag motel. I was in shock when I saw where he was planning to take me. He ended up going in and getting into an argument with the desk clerk over vacancy. I guess he thought I’d be impressed by his bad-ass ways, fighting with the old guy at a prostitute motel… le sigh. Anyway, he told them to bring us to another motel. It ended up being just as sleazy, but we were in luck because they had vacancy! Yaaaaay!
I was so embarrassed when we got there because I felt so cheap and nasty entering this motel with condoms, lol! He ended up walking to KFC to get food. I didn’t eat and we watched a King of the Hill marathon all night. The next morning, the ex had his cousin come and get him and take him to work really early. Later, they came back and picked me up. That was really, really awkward, riding home with two old men I didn’t know.
That didn’t last long, either.
