Last night around 9:30 PM our 2 year old Great Dane Bella slipped out of her collar when something startled her. She was spotted once at about 11 PM and then once at around 2:30 AM but not even a trace of her since. To make matters ten thousand times worse, we are visiting out hometown and she does not know the area at all. I have been up all night with Fiance looking for her. We have done everything imaginable to try to find her, including sending out a Pet Amber Alert, calling the SPCA, alerting every person we come across, calling the state police, leaving our clothes out for her to find, reporting her missing with her microchip company, etc. etc. I’ve also left messages with a dog-tracking-dogs club and an animal communicator, that’s how desperate I am right now. I think I’ve walked about 20 miles since 9:30 last night. I am sitting here bawling my eyes out. And the worst part – Fiance HAS to be at work in the morning, 3 hours away in PA. I could probably stay behind, but he refuses to take a nap and I can’t let him drive that far alone on no sleep (he has trouble staying awake while driving long distances as it is). I’m at home now and supposed to be napping so I can drive him back tonight but I can’t do anything but sit here and bawl.
She is our CHILD. This dog is sooo special to us. I can’t deal with her being gone one second longer. Please if anyone has any more suggestions for us I would love to hear them.
If anyone is anywhere near Pittstown, NJ 08867 please pass along the word that there is a black great dane named Bella missing!

I’m so sorry that you lost your pup and hope you find her soon. Don’t give up hope. With a microchip they should be able to track her down no problem.

Go to the local pet stores and make sure they put the Pet Amber Alert up, and ask if anyone has seen her. I work in a petstore and we’ve had 3 dogs that people have found get dropped off to us in the last year. Put an ad on craigslist, and call some local rescue agencies. Some people won’t take them to a shelter because they are afraid the animal will get put to sleep, so they find a rescue to take the animal.

I’m so sorry this has happened to you, but it is still early on. I think ou will find her. A dog that big is easier to find than a small one, and she is microchipped. I’ll be thinking of you.

That’s so terrible. I’m sorry 🙁
It sounds like you’ve done everything you can do, and I’m sure one of the contacts will be able to find her. Keep us posted!

I want to tell you DON’T GIVE UP! Let me tell you my story…
My ex and I were vacationing in TX from FL with out 7 pound min pin. We left his with ex’s mom and while we were gone he got out of the house, and ran into the woods. He didn’t know where he was, he was a tiny little bugger. He was our child as well. We spent all day and night in the woods, called radio stations, put ads in the subdivision, hung posters, puts ads on craigslist, anything you could imagine. Not a peep or any sight of him. We figured he was eaten by coyotes. So very very sadly, we had to head home without him because our lives were still there in FL. About a week after we got home, I had begun to heal my heart, we got a phone call. Someone found him. He had been crossing an 8 lane highway to go to this shopping plaza to eat, where some store clerks were feeding him. They tried to catch him because they realized he was someone’s dog, but had no luck until the security guard baited him with a squirrel trap. the guard’s wife saw the ad in the paper, called us and the rest is history. Ex flew to texas to pick him up! Don’t give up. Put posters everywhere, canvas the world if you have to!
