Hmm. I decided against Jordan Almonds, though I’ve been trying like a mad-woman to find authentic French dragées; wish the FMiL would have told me about them and the 5-dragée custom sooner.

We’re doing 2 d20s (one in each of our wedding colours) and 2 d6s (each with a cat in place of the 1). Most of our friends and family are gamers of one type or another, so hopefully everyone will appreciate it. Though now I’m expecting “crazy dice” to show up on this list in a month. XD

Haha – Ok, I was going to do Hershey’s hugs and kisses – not in the spoon thing but in a box with a pom on top that would double as the place card with their names on it.

So, help me out ladies – instead of Hershey’s hugs and kisses, what would you consider a “good” quality candy that you would gobble up before even leaving the reception?

Unfortunately I already bought the boxes or else I’d go bigger and put mexican wedding cookies in them instead.

It’s been so long since I’ve been involved in a wedding. I’m pretty much Mom #2 for the groom (his mom and I have been best friends all our lives) and since the kids live in a economically depleted area, we’re doing the wedding here in So. FL. Both bride and groom grew up here. So I’m trying to think of favors and reading through this blog I’m about to wet my pants from laughing so hard. So cookies are good? I’m a great baker (really) and that would be so easy to do. And I’d thought about the little hershey’s bars personalized since I can do those myself. Or even give the mom of the bride that chore to do after printing.

My favorite has to be the tea bag tho, shared!

unless your wedding is being held during school hours at an elementary I do not understand the candy buffet. I always thought the word translation of “candy buffet” for adults was “open bar”

I didn’t read through all the posts so sorry if I’m repeating someone.  What this thread shows me is that favors are a waste of time and money.  I’m not doing them.  My girlfriend didn’t do them and no one even noticed!  But the best ones are the food ones!

My worst favors were, a coaster with a picture of them, silver bell, votive candle (not a candle holder but just the candle).

@MissHotSauce – I know someone said that Hershey’s Hugs and Kisses weren’t “quality” candy, but I think that’s silly.  I would love to receive that!  I, um, actually buy bags of them and hide them around my house, for “rainy days”…  🙂

Favors are gifts to guests, and as such, I don’t think there are any “bad favors.”  Everyone likes different things, so it can be hard to choose something that everyone will love, but really, all of these “worst of”‘s are thoughtful.  Well, maybe not the religious tract with the hero going to the Devil…  that one made me snarf my coffee!  So much for taking the high road!  🙂

at justacameragirl: why did you think candy buffet translated to open bar? do you typically have different names for open bars? i’ve been to weddings all cross the united states, canada, europe, asia and south america and most people just referred to open bars as open bars (albeit, in their respective languages).

weddingbee has a great wiki tab, if you are ever confused about something and need more info. here is the page for candy buffet:

oh, and, why would a candy buffet only be fitting at a school function? that’s rather silly. almost like saying alcohol should only be in bars, dance floors in clubs, food in restaurants….well you get the picture. i guess it’s safe to say that weddings are personal and everyone should be able to have any kind of party they want (so long as it doesn’t involve violence).

ladybuglove: I think that she meant that candy buffets are for kids and open bars should be what adults have instead. Not positive, though. **hides**

I’m doing a candy buffet, Fiance and I are so excited, we love candy. We could care less whether or not our guests like it. It’s cool to set up and look at as decor, and we love the stuff were using, so if we are left with it, good for us.

I also think it allows for a great selection so if people wanna take part they can, or they can skip whatever.

I also think favors should be given out, it’s a thank you for coming, whether you like it or not doesn’t matter, the bride obviously did or she wouldn’t have chosen them.

People on this post are starting to get really rude I feel.

is there an age reference on candy wrappers that i have been missing? is the candy police going to come after us? also, is there an “only one type of wedding package” that we all have to subscribe to? lol…….

Who doesn’t love candy?  My Fiance and I are doing a candy buffet bc we went to a wedding where there was one, and it was amazing.  Just the feeling of standing in front of dishes and dishes of delicious little items was enough to convince us to do the same.

The worst favor I received was a mini bottle of hand sanitizer in an organza bag.

@ justacameragirl – LOL an open bar is a candy buffet for me!!! haha

The worst favor I have ever gotten was a candle in the shape of a bride at a shower. On the drive home I couldn’t understand what I was smelling that smelt like bug spray and was giving me a headache. An hour into the drive I realized it was the candle and threw it out the window! I swear I kept smelling bug spray for a WEEK!!!!!!
