This thread is hilarious!  Now that it is possible to personalize everything I think lots of couples go overboard with putting their names and wedding dates on things.  I would rather have a keepsake that I knew was from the wedding, but didn’t have names/dates/pictures plastered all over it.  I wonder how much of that stuff ends up at Goodwill or in the dumpster.  (However, I do love receiving STDs., invites, and thank-you notes with a picture of the couple!)  But the best wedding favors are always the edible ones, like frosted sugar cookies, candies or something unique and regional.

i love that you included the picture of the bird! lmao! that’s hilarious! The worst favor I recieved was monogramed coasters.  Monogramed with the bride and grooms initials!!  I am tired of these useless party favors. Save your money and give edible favors instead!

I love this thread!

I don’t mind a personalized matchbook, though I’m not sure why people choose to give them out. I’m with everyone who loves edible favors … and I’m definitely guilty of seeking out the extras.

Instead of favors, we’re providing glassine bags for those who want to take home cookies from the cookie bar. Or, ya know, you can eat them during the wedding. Whatev.

I’m terrified that I’m going to give out a favor now that’s on this list, LOL! I better read through it carefully.

Before my fiance and I decided to elope I bought TONS of bubbles. Now we’re eloping in Vegas and having a reception the following weekend back home. I don’t know what to do with all the bubbles now since it’s not like we’re leaving our reception in a getaway car to go off to our honeymoon (since we will have already vacationed in Vegas the week before). Would it be weird to still put them in the favor bags? The kids would still enjoy them I guess! What else am I going to do with 120 mini bottles of bubbles?

In my opinion, the hershey’s kisses have run their course. I am so over them, I never take them with me when given as favors (that’s bad, I know!).

I went to a wedding once where they gave out these foul Cinderella carriage shaped soaps. They smelled like a flower’s ass and looked like they’d give you a heinous rash.  Worst of all they were put inside plastic "glass" slippers.

Needless to say they were left behind.

HAHA! Man, now i wonder if my teaspoons were a bad idea. I think they were love/hate. Some people loved ’em, and only 2 sets were left behind (by people who didn’t stay) so i guess they weren’t that bad!

If you’re going to do edible favors, at least go with good QUALITY. I’m tired of hershey kishes, jordan almonds (i like ’em well enough, but they get stale fast), and other drugstore candies. Bring on some quality yummies! Even jelly bellies I love.

@kiachan – flower’s ass – that made me laugh!

We’re leaning towards the personalized dove candies.  I think those will make guests happy.

I think this thread is bringing out a little snarkiness. Every wedding favor imaginable must be listed here as the "worst ever."  It has to be edible, but it can’t be jordan almonds, or a candy bar. etc. etc. I think a favor is a gift! If you don’t care for it, you should still be polite.

This thread is hilarious!

My favourite was the single tea bag per couple! LOL

So this thread had proven to me that I should not even bother wasting the money – apparently you do not need a favor and it is the wedding industry making us spend the extra money!

Thank you for a good laugh and saving me the money I would have spent on a crappy favor that would have ended up on this thread!

I got a rock. Seriously, a polished rock with the couples name and wedding date written on it.

knapper08: LMAO!! I’m at work laughing hysterically.. my coworkers must think I’ve lost it.

So, I wonder if a shot glass filled with jelly beans would be tacky or not?

sunsail, i think you are doing the shot glass because of the toast, right? then, i don’t think it’s tacky. you are providing a use for it…even if it’s for that night only. it’s not like some random item you are putting on display. also, edible favors are usually a favorite. who doesn’t like jelly beans? ok, maybe some people don’t. the same way not everyone will like chocolate or almonds. you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.Wink
