kaycost: I agree with everything you said. Although I think they did a much better job with the second trial, the fact that they did your eyeliner that way again worries me that they just aren’t hearing you. I would be concerned about what I might end up with on the wedding day, since it feels like the communication is not going well.
Your inspiration picture has beautiful light and bright eye makeup with a highlighted inner corner and darker liner on the outer edge to add a little emphasis – it’s completely different. The way they’ve filled in the start of your eyebrows is just sloppy. You still look gorgeous (I don’t think any amount of dodgy makeup could change that!), but I just think it’s all a bit odd for professional MUAs.
If I were you, I would try and find another MUA and do a fresh trial. If possible, maybe don’t officially cancel with these guys unless you have someone else you definitely prefer lined up, as I’m sure you could work with them if need be. I just think you could find someone else who you would feel a lot more confident with.

bgswifey: The company is actually run by two sisters and the bad MUA is one of the sisters (I actually think she is the main owner). So she should be the best.. I think she’s the only one of the two that does airbrushing.
Thanks for everyone’s helpful comments. I’ve been looking into other places and I’m scheduling another trial so I’m going to see if I like it better before cancelling my current contract. I technically have until June to cancel the contract and I’ll only lose my deposit. I’m feeling discouraged..

kaycost: Just read through the full thread…Can’t believe the first MUA is one of the OWNERS! That does not bode well. I agree with others that the second look is better but they were a bit heavy handed with the foundation and I actually think you look better with no makeup on than with either of their “styles”. You are so pretty—I would find another MUA since you have time 🙂

kaycost: I’m not sure where you live, but if it’s anywhere near the Atlanta area, I know a MUA who does amazing natural looks for proms and bridal. She did my younger sister’s prom look last year and it looked amazing!

bee I would keep looking!! I feel like these girls will bring unnessary stress to your day.
Also you or your fiancé are not happy with the second trial, so regardless of how it photographs, that is the opinion that matters.
btw depending on the foundation they use, you can have a ‘natural look’ that while being heavier than you normally wear doesn’t feel caked on!

I hate to give the second round a negative review since it *is* better than the first time, but I can’t help it. The foundation they used is waaaay too chalky and feels off-tone, brows are too dark, the eyeliner isn’t right and there is NO blending at all – none at the eye, none at the cheek, none anywhere. WTH?
Honestly, bee, if I were you I’d just practice practice practice like crazy and do my own makeup…or make it a fun challenge with my Maid/Matron of Honor or BMs. You will all want good makeup, might be kinda fun to practice on one another. You have lots of time, and there are youtube videos GALORE. Look up Lisa Eldridge (#1 pic for sure, she’s a MU GODDESS with mad skillz), Sona Gasparian, Zoe Sugg, Tanya Burr, the Pixiwoo sisters. LOTS!
This link has videos by most of the ppl I listed above. Check them out! http://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/beauty/beauty-features/2015/11/the-best-beauty-tutorials-on-youtube

kaycost: Did she take a sharpie to your eyebrows?

kaycost: you are so naturally pretty, but the person who did your makeup is either, A. Jealous of how gorgeous you naturally are, or , B. Didn’t know what the hell she was doing or, C. A combo of A n B. She needs to be ashamed of herself!

kaycost: ah. Definitely get your money back. its obvious that this person is not a MUA. so sorry, hugs
where are you located? did you use Instagram? I found my girl through instagram and word of mouth. 120 is not cheap and 100 for a trial? That’s kind of a lot. Maybe other bees could help you find a MUA in your area
