Wow, that’s crazy, OP! Definitely a ‘worst wedding ever’ instance!

For me, it was a friend’s wedding, last May. The ceremony was 1/2 an hour late starting because the ‘ring bearer’ (the bride’s 3-month-old nephew) was cranky, and they were trying to settle him down. I understand babies don’t usually run on a wedding schedule, but it was a nuissance, sitting and waiting.
After the ceremony concluded, the bride and groom travelled around the city for wedding photos, but provided no cocktail hour. No big deal, again, as not everyone does, but the pictures went over on time, as well, so DH and I went to get drinks/appetizers at a pub.
When we got back to the hall for the reception, everyone was seated and again waiting for the bride and groom. I still don’t know what the hold up was, but we were sick of just waiting, and waiting. Once they finally arrived, our table was the last to hit the buffet, and we got scraps… I mean, it was really picked over. Thank goodness we went to the pub, earlier.
The DJ sucked. No music was played during dinner. You could hear a pin drop. Except for 2 ladies (friends of the bride) at our table. A ggodie that one of them let fly: White wine makes me horny, and red wine makes me sleepy.. I better just stay away from both.
The bridal party (bride and groom included) were outside smoking more than inside, partying…

Needless to say, DH and I left early, and ended up crashing another wedding reception, lol. DH’s best man was at his wife’s cousin’s wedding, and called us in as backup. The bride and groom didn’t mind, and even thanked us for coming! It was almost as bad as my friend’s wedding (crappy music, M.I.A. bridal party. etc.), but the drinks were cheaper/better, and we had better company!

Not a wedding I attended but we were chatting with my friend’s wedding coordinator and asked him for his craziest wedding and he told us. He had a couple that were fighting since arrival at the hotel to the point where the manager sat them down and let them know they will have to move rooms before their wedding as the neighbors were complaining that they were fighting loudly in the room at all hours. Aparently a day before the wedding she hit him on the head with the desk chair in the hotel room and he had to go to the hospital. The coordinator thought for sure the wedding would be off but the groom turned up on time the next day bandaged up. The coordinator even went so far as to ask him if he wanted to call off the wedding but he was happy to go forward with it. Groom claimed bride was only like this because of the stress of the wedding and they got married. I was shocked, expected maybe he would have had a story of a bridezilla or some drunks guests but never a groom with bandages from a bride induced injury, maybe it happens more than we realize.

Hooooooly crap. I hope he leaves her, physical abuse of any kind is completely unacceptable.

The worst wedding I’ve been to was one where I never, the entire day, saw the bride and groom smile at each other. It was the saddest thing. Partway through the reception the bride disappeared for over an hour – find out several months later that it was because her new husband had deliberately made her cry. After the wedding she posted all of her pro pic on facebook, so I went through those too. Over 200 pics, taken by a professional, and I could only find about 5 where they were smiling at each other.

Sadly but unsurprisingly, they are now divorced because he started physically abusing her.

Wow. That is horrible!

Worst moment at a wedding for me happened during the vow portion. After the Brides sweet and loving vows the Groom all but grunted out his own which included the line ‘I promise to always explain things in small words and easy terms so that you can understand them.’

Jaw. Dropped. I just wonder what HAPPENS to some of these people during the wedding planning process!! How does it go so awry that people really act like this?

This happened before I was born, I believe, or maybe around the same time.

My aunt and uncle got married, and there were some MAJOR issues with my uncle’s sister, and my aunt and a few other people. She was told DO NOT COME. Well, she did. In the middle of the reception, she started some sh!t, and my aunt ended up with blood on her dress and I think they both ended up in the pool!

We’re redneck, we don’t mess around!!! LOL!!!
