@JaneDomani:  That’s an awesome gift.  I’d love to get trees.

I saw this and had to post. For our bridal shower, we got a tarnished “cheese platter” that was in a beat up box and smelled like it had been in someone’s basement for years. From the same person, we got a silver candelabra – I picked up the box and heard it rattling around – it was a bunch of broken pieces floating around in a musty old box!

Love the stories on here! Fiesta fiestaware – genius!

@Brideonabudgetlauren:  We actually have that pasta! (But we are Jewish…).  As a hint, they don’t taste so good, but we put one in a decorative jar…

Since I live in a different country where our wedding was, we asked people to not give us anything, because it would be really hard to take the presents home with us.

But, my family decided to throw me a bridal shower, but instead of normal house gifts, they gave me lingerie. Well, it was funny to see my aunts giving me lingerie lol They gave me the gifts in an exact order. The first one was cute, the second one a little bit more…. naughty…. lol and so on, so on, they were getting worse and worse. And then they annouced that the last gift was my grandmother’s gift. I almost DIED lol It was a big present and I just didn’t want to open it. I thought it was going to be really naughty and embarrassing… and c’mon, who wants to receive THAT kind of gift from your grandmother?

BUT, it was a towel set lol A really beautiful one. I was SO relieved lol

omg these are making me LOL!!!

I’m SO glad that asking for cash is very acceptable in our community and that’s what we’re doing.

I recently was in a wedding and the next day after gift opening the bride comes up to me and says “smell this” it was a blanket some old lady knitted and it smelt like someone blew smoke in your face.

Commenting on this thread so I can find it later to prank some of my best friends who are getting married next year (I really want to give them some of this compeletely random stuff and not mark who it is from… plus a real gift of course)

I didn’t get anything too too weird. We did get a set of orange floral placemats, dark red cloth napkins, and wooden napkin rings from a friend of Mother-In-Law WAY before we had even registered.  Honestly who just sends random stuff like that when they don’t know your taste or wants AT ALL? We also got a dehydrator with no card or name.  I admit we registered for it on a whim, never expecting to get it, but i still feel bad that I coudn’t thank whoever gave it to us!  That thing was like 70 bucks!

oh my gosh I love this thread! I’m cracking up!

I think we got regifted corningware because the box was so beat up but it was on our registry soooo who knows… lol

Other iffy gifts were a carved frame with our wedding date & “Mark & Kim” on it (I HATE being called KIM so although this gift is well-intended, uhh… I’m not sure what we’ll do with it) and we got a Sriracha cookbook… which was kinda cute but really? lol Tongue Out
