To be honest, the only reason I would want to change my ring (not necessarily upgrade) would be if it were in a style I really disliked. I don’t see the point in buying a bigger/better ring just because I can afford to – if I can afford to drop an extra few thousand on a ring, I can afford a lot more important things!

I love the ring my fiance got me and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Having said that, though, when he first gave me the ring, I didn’t particularly like the style – it was too big for my style. After a few weeks, I started to love it more though, and I love the fact that he bought it with me in mind.

I won’t upgrade my ring but there are plans afoot to buy another one or two in rose gold and yellow gold.

I would never get rid of the ring I have now because it DOES have a lot of sentimental value to me, although my Fiance has said he is all for switching the diamond for a higher quality one. The way I feel, though since he comes from a family of jewelers, is to keep my ring forever as a family heirloom and invest in other rings/diamonds/precious gems. The value never drops, so why not? They will all be passed down to the coming generations and then they’ll get to enjoy them. 😀

I do eventually want to get an second band with some more shiny in it, and perhaps someday a little larger center stone but I LOVE the setting my ring is in and would never change that.

Mine’s a little complicated- when my SO and I met, we were too young to really consider getting engaged at the time (19 and 21) but I wanted a ring for Christmas. So now I have a “promise/pre-engagement/present” ring that we will be replacing with a moissanite in a year or so. I’ll be getting a new ring and keeping this one, of course.

Is the upgrade free? If so, yes. If I have to pay for it, hell no! I already have a ring that I love. I don’t need anything more, but if someone was willing to GIVE me one I’d take it. My Fiance says that we can upgrade my ring in like 10 years to something big and beautiful (since we’re still in college). By then we’ll have way more money.

Darling Husband picked out my ring all by himself.  He’s SO proud of it and of himself that he picked it out, it would crush him if I ever even thought of changing it.  Which is fine because I love it, and it’s not of an insignificant size, so it’s not like it’s too small for my finger or anything. On the contrary- anything much bigger would probably look a bit much on my small hands.  And I’ll admit it had a lot of sentimental value- I’m probably the least sentimental person on earth, but my rings are one of the few things I really treasure.

Only way I would upgrade is to maybe get a larger center stone(nothing bigger than a carat though, current stone is half a carat) or add another contour band on top of my ring(currently just have contour wedding band on bottom and ering on top).  I adore my setting and would never change that, but I know that my husband really originally wanted to get me a larger center stone, but wasn’t in the budget, so I told him that is what anniversaries are forLaughing

Depends on the definition of “can afford”.  We could have easily bought a much bigger ring when we got engaged, and could do so now as well.  We just prefer to have that cash in retirement accounts.  So if we had enough to retire off of and extra for everything else and a larger ring, yes.  Otherwise no.

No, because the ring to me is a symbol of my fiance’s committment, and I love that he shopped for this ring in particular, spent weeks finding the perfect diamond, and is so proud of how well he did.  There is no way I could ever get another ring that would match that feeling.

I don’t need an upgrade, but I would love to have a yellow gold and/or a rose gold set in addition to my platinum.  I also wish I had a smaller set for daily wear because I’ve lost ALOT of weight and the big diamond/big girl thing no longer applies.  #firstworldproblems

Nope, totally not interested in upgrading my ring. I love the man who presented this to me and what it represents to me. I will never forget the moment he opened the box…I’d never be able to have that euphoric feeling with another ring. It just means way too much to me and I am super in love with it! There’s not another ring out there that I would ever want. 🙂
