Would a beaded belt make my dress too "busy"?

january02 :  I vote for no belt. That satin belt doesn’t look great, and an embellished belt will be way too much. Let your dress be the star – it is truly lovely!

january02 :  Yes I tried it on BHLDN. I knew I was going to purchase Elise Gown. But your dress was so fun and lovely! I had to put it on ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m too late I think, but I was going to say  try no belt at  all, that  dress is so prettily detailed it really won;’t be enhanced by a belt imho. Actually I think very few dresses are,  a lot of these big  sparkly belts just add bulk  and  make waists look  wider than they are

No blingy belt, and preferably no belt at all

it is a pretty dress. Like Coco Chanel said about assesorizing “always take off the last thing you put on” I think  a bigger belt would be too much since the dress is already so detailed.

I think a wider belt might work. I prefer a more expensive satin – maybe even more of matt silk or almost gros grain. A simple beaded belt that wasn’t silver but clear crystals might be okay but there is a lot going on there with your pretty dress.

Your dress is beautiful. I’d let it speak for itself ๐Ÿ™‚

I am in the minority here, but I think a really thin beaded belt would work. I would get one and see how it looks.

orangeblossomhoney :  you’re better off going with a plain satin belt that’s a bit wider and sits a little lower.

I realize this is just a cut and paste but that’s way too much for that dress. You don’t need to dress it up any further with all the detail it has, you don’t even really need a belt.

I don’t think it needs a belt, but if you definitely want a belt, why not try an organza ribbon (or whatever the skirt is made of) or something like the edging on the straps (but maybe wider)?

orangeblossomhoney :

You know, I think if the bodice was closer fitted, especially at  the waist , and you had a better bra , you wouldn’t   feel the need  for a belt at all . Just a thought.
