I’ve gone back and forth with my dress over the last few months. I definitely had dress regret at one point, but have finally fallen back in love with my dress. It fits my personality perfectly and has the classic elegant look that I wanted. Now I’m just not sure whether it would look even better with a beaded sash. I tried on a sash with the dress at the salon, but didnt like it because it didnt cover all of the ruching at the waist. I’ve looked at the construction of the dress and found that the ruched piece would be fairly easy to remove or at least make a little smaller so that a belt would cover it. I wish I had the option to try on belts before I bought one, but unfortunately I don’t have that option because I purchased the dress at a sample sale. So I need your help! Could my dress be improved with a sash, by making the ruched piece smaller, or should I just leave it as is?
The sash would be similar to this:

And here is my dress (The skirt is detachable)

I actually think a thinner beaded sash that would fit in the middle of the rouching would look nice. But I wouldn’t remove the rouching. If you don’t like the mix of the belt with the rouching I would just leave the rouching. Although I suppose I’d have to see how it looks with a belt that would cover the rouching completely.
I love the detachable skirt!

@jny1179: +1 I like the idea of adding a little bling but love the ruching as it is. You could get a thin belt to go in the middle. I’d suggest making it beaded all the way around as opposed to just in the middle because imo it would look weird to have bare ribbon sitting on the ruching.

@Soon_To_Be_Mrs_T: I love it as-is! If you want more bling, why not add a great sparkly headband or hair pin?
That dress is pretty fabulous on its own!

@Soon_To_Be_Mrs_T: Oh em gee I love the two different versions of your dress! Genius! Did you buy it like that or it was custom designed?

@ceebree: I actually bought it like this! It’s a discontinued Mori Lee. The skirt just attaches underneath the ruching with eye hooks.

Keep the rouching. Add a brooch.
