Ok so I found a picture of a dress that i’m absolutely OBSESSED with on pinterest and have been trying to find out the name of it for a while with no luck. The picture had a photographer’s name on it, so I googled the name and found the photographer’s facebook…and then the same picture on there with the girl who was wearing it tagged in the picture. There were comments on the picture about how it was a certain dress style but she had it dramatically altered to look the way it did. I can’t get this dress out of my head every time I go shopping I keep comparing it to everything that I see it’s driving me crazy!!
What should I do???? Would it be totally creepy to message the girl and ask if she would want to sell her dress?? Or should I try to buy the same dress and have it altered the same way she did?? (which might be really expensive…)

A little creepy, but nothing ventured nothing gained! The worst she could say is ‘no’!

@arg1202: what does the dress look like?

I Even if she says no you can ask her about it at least

@arg1202: The worst thing she can do is say no/ignore you.

I would be flattered if someone offered to buy my dress because they thought it was so insanely gorgeous! Do it!

I would! Who cares, she doesnt know you. I bet you will be regretfull if you didnt

@Duncan: Ditto. It can’t hurt to ask. Even if she says no, I’m sure she’ll be flattered and you’ll make her night.
I probably wouldn’t mention pinterest though, just say you saw the photographers page and fell in love with her dress.

@arg1202: Message her! Maybe she’s thinking about selling it but not really bothering to do anything about it. If the picture was me, I’d totally sell you the dress. My dress isn’t up for sale at the moment, but if someone offered me some money for it I would probably go for it.
Just say you stumbled across the pictures, you think her dress is amazing and would she be interested in selling it at some point?

*raises hand* I’ve actually done it, though it was on here, not facebook. The only thing though is that since its on facebook and (I’m assuming) you dont have any connections to her, you’ll either have to pay to send her a message to her main messages, or it’ll it be sent to the “others” box and theres no guarantee she’ll see it.

@arg1202: Ditto what @CoCoCourtney said…. message her but don’t mention Pinterest. Yeah…. everything is out there and I have actually found a bride the same exact way, but she might feel weird about you tracking her down that way. It’s not a lie to say you saw the dress on her photographer’s site because you DID.

@arg1202: I say go for it, the worst that can happen is a total stranger thinks you’re a creep 😛
But if she say no or doesn’t reply, you should look into having it custom made! That could be much cheaper than buying new and altering it the same way.

@allyfally: ohmygosh. I had no clue about the “others messages” on my fb. I just checked actually have stuff in there people have sent me and I never knew about. Wow….and seriously, we have to pay to send people (that we arent friends with) messages now? When did all this happen…

Just so you know, on Facebook, unless you pay, when you send a message to a person you arent friends with, it goes to their “Other” box and they may never see it.
What I might recommend is emailing the photographer and asking if she can put you in touch, or comment on the picture the bride is tagged in and ask her to contact you if she is interested in selling it.
