I am needing some motivation to get in the gym and start working out like I used to.
I have gained almost 25 lbs in the past 2 years or so, and I am having a really hard time getting motivated to make it go away! I was Very (with a capital V) fit and thin back then, so even wtih the extra 25 lbs, I don’t look “fat.” I am still a size 6, but I feel soft and lumpy and have lots of CELLULUTE!
I have so many pairs of cute jeans that I can’t even get over my thighs…it’s depressing. But at the same time, I don’t do anything about it because I don’t have anyone telling me I’m fat or need to lose weight. I’m technically “normal.”
I used to feel so confident in a bikini, and now I run and hide when the sun comes out!
Anyone have any motivation tips? Ways they got motivated? What about fun ways to exercise OTHER than going to the gym? Would love A KICK IN MY ASS! Thanks! 🙂

KICK IN THE BUTT! GET MOVING!
ok, seriously. Losing weight has just as much to do with how much you eat as with how much you move. Try incorporating a lot more fresh vegetables and whole grains into your diet. Try to eat less sugar (but don’t substitute it with fake sweetners! just eat less of it! Chances are, if something has fake sweetners in it, then you probably shouldn’t be eating it in the first place!) less fried things, less processed foods.
Then check out classes that involve moving, like dance classes like zumba or a more active version of yoga. I really like classes, cuz even though you have to pay for them, that is usually enough motivation to go, and then having the instructor and people watching you, it’s not like you’re going to slack off!

I hear ya! I ended up joining a boot camp and I am seeing results so it is making me want to work out on non boot camp days. Sadly this is the last week of bootcamp though!
Do you have a workout buddy? I will do P90x with my fiance every once in awhile (It is tough!!). Working out with someone always motivates me along with going to fitness classes because as joy2011 you are less likely to quit during the class or slack off!

Which is more effective for you as a goal – feeling good, or looking good? Whichever one it is, focus on THAT. It sounds like maybe the weight loss aspect isn’t as important to you. But if you read Miss Ladyfingers’s post today, she talks about how much better she feels when she works out. That has been a more effective motivator for me than weight loss, for sure.
As for non-gym workouts – salsa dancing? That really gets you moving!
Make an appt with a personal trainer, if you can afford it. That can start you off with a solid plan, which makes you more likely to stick with it.

thanks for the tips lady.
i would say that when i look good, i feel good….so i should start there. I guess my ultimate goal is to be able to fit into all my old clothes. which is about 2 sizes or so.

I am doing the Insanity workouts… I find them to be motivating because they are fast paced and you don’t get much time to think about how hard the workouts are lol and you feel awesome after doing them, knowing you made it through the videos, also I get motivated by going to their website and look at the before and after pics ( beachbody.com)… there’s a good amount of pictures of people who aren’t overweight and want to lose pounds and tone up…
I’m trying to get toned up for the wedding and honeymoon 🙂
Hope that helps
