    Layla is a beautiful name.

I’m going to be frank here and admit that someone at some point in her life is going to tease her for that surname. That said, it is going to happen regardless of her first name, so just choose a name that you both love. I think Layla is great and if you still love it when you’re TTC/pregnant, go for it.

I hate to say this, but it sounds like “Lay ya harder” like as in a sexual way.

    Im sorry!!

I chose “hate it” but not because I hate it.  I actually LOVE the name but I think your kid will absolutely be made fun of  ๐Ÿ™

I agree, Layla is a beautiful name.

But kids are cruel and they will make fun of each other in any way possible. My husband was bullied in school for his last name rhyming with “hairy” and the fact that he developed a bit quicker than the rest of the boys. :-/ He was dubbed Hairy LastName from middle school until he graduated high school. Like PP, I think it won’t matter so much what the first name is…. so give your child a name that you love! ๐Ÿ™‚

Kids are assholes so she’ll almost certainly get made fun of for that name. To be honest, I don’t really like Layla but that’s just my opinion.

@KimberBee:.  it’s a beautiful name but maybe use it as a middle name.

Kids, no matter what the name, will often be made fun of but this name is just setting her up for mockery. I wouldnt do it.

While Layla is a beautiful name, I don’t think it matches with your last name ๐Ÿ™

If I thought of the not so nice nickname that was already brought up, surely a classroom full of brats will be able to come up with it too. I’m not crazy about the future connotations. “Lay” and “Harder” might not belong in the same name. But, if you really love it, keep in mind that not everyone is as immature as me (teehee) and kids will make fun of any name b/c most children are horrid to eachother.

I think Layla is gorgeous, we considered it for our daughter…. but not with that last name. ๐Ÿ™

Honestly they’ll most likely get made fun of for the last name no matter what the first is. My last name is similar to “boner” so I dealt with that my whole life, but it didn’t bother me much, everyone was so unoriginal with the same joke over and over again so it just made me roll my eyes.

I had a friend whose first name was Layla. She was teased SO BAD and was even nearly raped for the bad attention it brought her. She eventually had it changed. I can only imagine the horrors Layla HARDER would bring ๐Ÿ™ that said, I DO think Layla IS a pretty name but with society’s evil kids… I just don’t think it’s a good idea.

I would give her a first name that cannot be made into a pun. With the last name Harder, you really shouldn’t use a first name that starts with “Lay.” How about Lila? Leah? Laura? Anything else??

Beautiful name, but she will most definitely be made fun of mercilessly.

I love the name Layla – I am just not sure about it given the last name. I do believe she would catch hell in school from all the other kids. But, children will pick on others no matter what thier name is.
