So I have myself and 9 Bridesmaid or Best Man that I am paying for hair and makeup. I don’t want my Bridesmaid or Best Man paying for it themselves and it is part of their gift. I am leaning towards airbrush MU, however, providing airbrush for all 10 of us is VERY expensive. Now, I don’t want to sound rude or cheap, but I have considered going with one hair and MU team for my bridesmaids and bringing in a second person to have my hair and (airbrush)MU completed by. I want to know if that would be considered rude to have my bridesmaids get themselves done by the “B” team so to speak. More so, I don’t want the hair/MU team thinking I don’t like their work…but they aren’t advocates of airbrush. Thoughts?!

I think it’s really nice of you to pay for their hair and makeup! I am paying for hair only and letting them choose if they want to pay for makeup or do it themselves. I would caution you, however, that most places I have found have a minimum (3-4 person/service) and would not come on-site to do only one person’s hair and makeup. If you do find someone who is willing to do this, then go for it.

You’re paying for their hair and make up. That in and of itself is pretty great. I know I wouldn’t be picky about who does it.

@wildcatjack: not rude at all! You are being sweet providing them with prosfessional make-up. Youre the bride so you get special treatment!

Well, on the one hand you’re the bride, so you could receive a little extra special treatment for your day! But if it were ME, personally… I would just forgo the airbrushing for myself and have the same team do my maids and I.

Not rude at all! I think if they wanted an “upgrade” to the airbrush that could be an option, but you don’t have to pay for it…

@Sunnyday278: Just out of curiosity, have you had experience with airbrush and just didn’t like it?

@wildcatjack: I have never had airbrushed makeup, actually. It intrigues me! I more so am very very very budget concious and would probably go for the cheaper option 😛

@wildcatjack: you’re going to want more than one makeup artist anyways. I doubt they’ll even think if it as a “b team”

@BlondeBee: Thats also something I was thinking of. The hair and MU team is just two of them (sisters who work together). But any other MUA I have contacted has recomended a team of 2-3 artists simply because of my group’s size.

Nope, if you’re paying for someone to my make up, I’m not going to be picky about who is doing it. Besides, if you’re paying for it all, no one is even going to know who cost what.

I wouldn’t find it rude. I mean, sure, the BMs should be pretty, but it’s the brides day! She should have top notch! It’s a nice gesture that you are paying for their hair & MU.

as a professional MUA who has done many weddings, I can tell you this is very common especially considering you have so many BM’s. you not only have to consider cost, but also time. You want to Make sure your MUA has enough detail to pay attention to detauncoil is very nice for you to pay, it is rare for a pride to pay for hair and makeup for the BM’s.

@wildcatjack: I think that’s fine. They don’t need airbrush by any means – no one is really goigng to be photographing their face up close and personal!

@jigga143: +1 about the making sure your MUA has time to do your hair and makeup.
Trust me, the other MUAs will not think that you’re saying they aren’t good enough to do your makeup. You’re paying them to do 9 people’s makeup – That is all they will be thinking about. Also, your BMs will understand that it’s your day, and you deserve a little special treatment (especially since you’re paying). It isn’t like you hired a personal masseuse to come in and give you a massage while you eat bonbons and sip bubbly. It’s makeup! No big deal!
