Neither Fiance or I are Presbyterians (he’s Baptist, I’m Lutheran), but I really like the ceremony that Barrettes shared in her recap this week that was a Presbyterian service. Our officiant sent me some choices earlier this week that we could choose from, but I didn’t care for any of them, or only liked bits and pieces from each. I really love the Presbyterian ceremony, but would it be weird to use it since neither of us or our families are Presbyterian? We are getting married in a non-denominational chapel by a non-denominational reverend if that helps.

i haven’t read her ceremony, but i can’t imagine there’s anything specifically identifying it as presbyterian. if you like it and it’s okay with your officiant, go for it.

I don’t think that’s too weird. If you think your families might respond negatively to it, why not mix up parts of the Presbyterian with parts of what your officiant sent? Really though, if that’s the ceremony you want, do it. I doubt anyone would jump up in the middle with a “HOW DARE YOU?!” 🙂

I think if the officiant is expresing your beliefs, and you are happy with it, why not? I think you are a very open minded individual. If the prespyterian officiat is willing to conuct your ceremony, that makes me happy for you:)

I think that using the Presbyterian service would be just fine, especially since you’re utilizing a non-denom reverend. You could always pick and choose aspects you like from each if you really think that using the full Presbyterian service would feel strange, but do what makes you happy and best communicates your love and commitment for one another. The message is what’s important 🙂

Yes, it would be weird and you are a social deviant.
Just kidding. Unless it says “You guys are presbyterian 4eva now, k?” I don’t think anyone will be the wiser.
