- Wedding: October 2016 - His Way Church & Chesapeake Room @ Downs Park
I have been searching and searching for the right bolero/cover up for my wedding gown. My dress is strapless and we are getting married in October so I thought it might be nice to have a little extra coverage, plus, the ceremony will be held in our church so I figured a little modesty wouldn’t hurt either. Every time I look at boleros, they are either too over the top, too cheap looking or too see-through. I wanted something more opaque than lace but still wanted it to have a softer edge to it.
My dress is Ivory and has beading/pearls on the top. My day-to-day style is more comfortable/casual, so I felt like this bolero matches my personality but is also nice enough to be worn for a bride. Do you think it would go?
Here is the bolero/cover up in ivory:
And here is my gown:
Tell me what you think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, Bees 🙂

I’m not so sure about the difference in textures but it could work.
My main concern is that cut with your bust. I’m larger busted too and that cover up would not sit where it was meant to…It would hang at the sides of my chest.

I am not sure. I like the bolero, and your dress is gorgeous, but like PP, I am not sure if the textures match, or if the beading in the two items are close enough to wear together. If you order it and don’t wear it for the wedding, do you have another use for it? is it expensive? have you tried on any in the store?

Im not sure about the texture and the color. I think a lace one is better.

I don’t like the texture of that fabric – looks a little to casual to me and like it’ll clash against your dress. i also prefer the cover ups that go over instead of the open front style like this:

I don’t think that this bolero works with your dress. The dress has beautiful beading work and it seems that the bolero also features beading work. The bolero will take attention away from your dress.

i don’t think the bolero would look right with your dress, although it is super cute. I bought this tulle wrap from etsy which i didn’t end up using but i think something more plain would look better with your dress since it is more intricate!! i can PM you the name of the seller if you are interested!(this pic isn’t me lol)

Honestly, I feel like you could find something better suited for your beautiful dress. How about a fur wrap or the lace boleros that others have suggested?

My friend wore that exact dress! I would have to say no to the bolero pictured, the material is so much heavier than that dress. My friend wore hers in a catholic wedding, and did not wear anything up top. With the beading at the neckline I would say you’d be best with a wrap for outside if it will be cold, otherwise one that is lace and not as heavy 🙂 congrats!

I agree, that it should be another texture. But idea is very pleasant to me, I think it will be very nice.

I think a (faux) fur wrap or bolero would be better with the texture of your dress. There’s a really nice one by Calvin Klein at Macy’s that I saw a few weeks ago, it was so so soft I think it would be a better fit with your dress.
