I am 5’3 and approx 125 pounds. I really like the drop waist gowns but don’t know if I would be to short to be able to pull it off. Anyone else that is on the shorter side wearing a drop waist?

I think you’d be fine-do you have pictures of any dresses you tried on?
I don’t think so. How high of heels are you planning on wearing?
I don’t think a drop waist would look weird just because you’re shorter (we’re the same height!). I was also wondering how high your heels are? Mine are 4 1/4″ so my shortness isn’t that big of an issue.
It really depends on your leg to torso proportion. People with long legs and short torsoes look best in drop waisted gowns. People with short legs and long torsos just end up looking much shorter!
i am 5’3 with short legs and a long torso fit and flare was the best on me. I didnt really try and drop waist but i think it would cut me off funny.

You need to see this thread! (Lots of petite brides looking great in drop waist gowns): http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/petite-brideswith-drop-wait-dresses
I think that you can definitely try a drop waist. I think they look flattering on a variety of body shapes. I think the key is where the drop happens and how it falls on your body. You might have to try a couple of different gowns, but I bet you’ll be able to make it work.
I am 5’3″ with short legs and a long torso and I got a drop waist dress, though it’s not a blatantly obvious one. It’s actually much more flattering on me than some of the other dress styles that I tried on because it’s pretty much perfectly proportioned to my body.
Jessie516 is right – it really does depend on how it cuts you off. An asymmetrical waistline or something that’s not straight across won’t cut you in half the way others do, so it’s less likely to cut you in half and make your legs look shorter.
You’ll never know until you try them on, so go ahead!
Oh, and one other thing to mention: don’t be fooled by the little box that most places make you stand on. The dresses will be too long so they’ll most likely stand you on a pedestal. While you’re up there it’s easy to feel the dress is flattering and perfect but it’s misleading because it adds a foot or more to your leg length. If you’re allowed to take photos, make sure to tuck up the hem so you don’t get fooled by it.
