Yes - but only someone close to me.

Yes - even if we weren't that close.

Maybe - but it would depend on certain things (explain).

I said no. It would feel weird to me to sell something so important. On the other hand it would just be sitting in my closet. Good thing none of my friends are close to my size so this would prevent them from even asking lol. Just tell her no you don’t want to allow anyone to use your dress, especially when it would need altering again.

Yay! Good job, OP. I was going to chime in that there are wedding dress rental shops too for budget-friendly brides.

I don’t think I would part with my wedding dress. I plan to wear mine on my 25th wedding anniversary; hope it still fits then. Ha, ha! When I’m 55.

For me, my dress is the memento from my day. I wouldn’t let someone use My dress. Also, no one would be able to anyways, since I’m so short!

Call me mean… but no way!  I am a very sentimental person and the thought of someone else wearing my dress doesn’t sit well.  And then to think you would actually be at her wedding and while everyone is awing over her I would be thinking she is wearing my dress lol.  Even though I wouldn’t have bad intentions I just wouldn’t be able to get myself past the fact that it is “my dress”… I personally would have a very hard time.  So if I was in your situation I would say NO WAY!

Ummm NO. I would not. Especially if you guys aren’t close anymore. The way she brought it up seems like her way of getting out of paying for one. If she wanted to pay for it, MAYBE. Even then I’d still be wary. I love my dress.

Oop, sorry I just saw your post about resolving the concern. Glad everything worked out, and you even helped her out with finding a dress! Way to go!

You arent close with her so I say no. I have no emotional connection to “the dress” or thoughts about preseving it for my daughter.

I do not know if I would let someone wear my dress because I haven’t even gotten married yet.

It seems you do not feel comfortable at all doing this so if I was you I would absolutely NOT do it.  If she is a reasonable person she’ll understand.  If not, well you are just facebook friends so I don’t think it’s a big deal if she gets mad at you.

You could suggest she look for the same style of dress for sale on the interenet.  There are MANY websites out there where brides are willingly selling their dresses.  I actually considered buying a used dress to save $$$ but in the end decided that I didn’t need to be so frugal.

    Good luck!
