    We combined because we didn’t want to deal with the hassel of moving money all around and balancing bills and making sure no one is low.  I don’t think you are selfish though.  You could do a joint checking, but then have your own separate savings that part of your paycheck automatically gets deposited into so that you don’t have all your money in the joint account.

    maymrswinks :  I guess I was speaking in legal terms. Yeah, it may make a couple seem like less than one entity is spirit or whatever but legally it has absolutely no effect.
