I read this interesting article over breakfast in one of my bridal magazines, Elegant Bride, I think, titled "How To Be A Guest At Your Own Wedding". Apparently some brides are too busy to plan their own wedding and/or only have a few stipulations–one wanted square tables, one wanted a specific type of wine, but really they only wanted a few important things and everything else was moot to them. So ultimately they hired party planners to do EVERYTHING right down to picking food, venues, decor, hair, makeup, etc. They just handed over complete control of their wedding, said "here’s what I want, plan it and we’ll show up" so their own wedding was a huge surprise. These were definitely A-list planners in NY, LA, etc, but I caught myself contemplating about whether or not I’d completely hand the reins over to a professional if money was no option.
The brides gave glowing reviews about how gorgeous everything was and their "ooo, ahhhh" responses since they hadn’t spent hours staring at the centerpieces and how the overall effect was magical the day of their wedding. And how STRESS FREE wedding planning was since they basically did nothing but trust their planner except meet with them once in awhile. I’m assuming that none of us are actually doing this–otherwise, why bother stalking the blogs for stellar ideas! But, what are your thoughts on this and under what circumstances would you consider doing this? Personally, I enjoy all the details of planning my own wedding, but a big, fancy, red carpet worthy bash sounds nice, too
