I picked out my cake yesterday! It’s pretty simple three tier all white. No real details on it, but I’ll put some pink roses around it and my cake topper. It’ll serve about 50 people and I plan on having only about 40 there.

The bottom two tiers are champange cake with strawberry fruit filling and a to die for vanilla buttercream frosting.

The top 4in tier is a personal tier I pretty much got for me and my bridal party though if anyone else wants to try it they can, it’s a small reception. It’s champange cake with peach filling and almond buttercream icing. It has a much stronger flavor but so good and unique. I couldn’t leave that cake shop without knowing I’d have the almond frosting again, so my husband let me have it on the top tier haha.

We got more of the vanilla frosting cake with strawberry because we figured that would be what most people’s pallets are used to and it’s a pretty common cake flavor. Though I was suprised, I was positive my mom would love the almond icing the most, but when I brought back the leftovers from my cake tasting she liked the vanilla much better. And my brother who is the pickiest eater in the world liked the almond better! I guess we will see what happens on wedding day.

Would you be happy with these cake choices at a wedding? What flavor cake (or dessert) are you having at your wedding? I love cake and dessert so please brag away about it 🙂

That sounds so delicious, especially your personal tier, mmm! I’d be very happy with those choices. I have no idea what type of cake I’m having. I’m just going to make my own, since my wedding is going to be very small. I’d be happy with just making a funfetti cake, lol!

Oh my gosh those sound AMAZING. Peach filling made my mouth water. Our cake is all vanilla frosting, but we are doing 3 tiers:
Bottom tier is chocolate cake with raspberry mousse filling, middle tier is lemon cake marbled with strawberry with a lemon filling, and the top tier is apple spice cake with a caramel filling. We’re serving all three tiers, but I picked the second tier and Fiance picked the bottom one. And we had to do something fall-ish for an October wedding!

I make almond buttercream all the time and people love it when they try it. I think it’s a nice surprise when it’s not vanilla buttercream.
Are the colors of the frostings going to match? My vanilla buttercream is a darker color than my almond buttercream.

That sounds delicious! I think simpler is better when it comes to cake and frosting.

I have severe nut allergies so I wouldn’t eat the layer with the almond icing. But the bottom tier you will be feeding the rest of your guests sounds tasty

That sounds delicious, OP! Peaches are one of my favorite fruits.
We are having 2 flavors- lemon cake with lemon curd and fresh rasberry, and chocolate cake with chocolate and mocha buttercreams. Can’t wait!

I’m not sure how I’d feel about peach filling and almond frosting (I can be a bit picky) but vanilla with strawberry is always delicious!
I loved my cake so much. It was chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse filling. I think it’s my favorite cake I’ve ever eaten.

I had a two tier. Bottom tier was a white cake flavored with champagne and lemon filling and the top was chocolate with raspberry filling. Both were SOOO good! The icing on both was vanilla buttercream.

Sounds delicious! I would eat both kinds!

Peach and almond together is spectacular! I wish I had some right now. I mean, I’m sure the vanilla and strawberry are going to be delicious, too, but I would be all over the peach/almond.

Are you not going to save the top tier for your one year anniversary?

Sounds like it could be good except fruit filling, to me, is so nasty in cake. I wouldn’t be happy eating it as a guest but it’s no big deal – I’d just skip the cake and I think most people like filling so it’s all good.

The peach and almond sounds very….not good. However, I would eat the one with strawberries bc I love them. I tend to like simple cakes with either vanilla or chocolate or some variation of tHat. Fruit and/or nut fillings make me nauseous.

I don’t like fruit filling so I wouldn’t eat it but I wouldn’t mind much as long as there was another desert.
