I personally do not like solitaire settings. But it doesn’t matter what any of is thinks, it’s how do you feel about it? keep in mind that later down the road when you look for wedding bands you can also dress it up with different enhancers or wraps. So there are many other options too!

Personally, I’d want a little more design to it.

It’s beautiful, but solitares are not my thing, and my SO is aware, so no, I would not be happy with that. BUT if it’s your style and what YOU DO want, then go for it!

Jeo4500:  You really can’t go wrong with a solitaire. You can dress it up so many different ways! Personally, I’d prefer a yellow or rose gold setting.

I have to ask what the center stone is in that pic? It kind of looks like a white sapphire, but it may just be because its stock photo. What are the specs?

Jeo4500:  Good for you! My first engagement ring is an opal. I wear it around my neck, close to my heart. My husband got me a diamond, because the hand washing required by my job would ruin an opal. If not for my job, I’d be wearing the opal instead…..the ring cost about $50. I actually like it more than my diamond.

My diamond is a quarter carat solitaire from a mall chain store. I have no idea about the specs other than the size. I only know it’s beautiful. Honestly….I married for love and not money. I could have had a bigger diamond if we both decided to save for one for awhile, but he really wanted to buy it himself. At the end of the day, I’m not a “keeping up with the Joneses” kind of person anyway. Anything bigger would be super annoying with my job anway.

Just keep in mind that a CZ will cloud over time and you may have to replace the stone. If that kind of thing bothers you, you might want to look into white sapphire…beautiful and affordable!

Jeo4500:  sapphires are second only to diamonds in durability. It will last forever!

This one is on Etsy for $135…..man made sapphires are even cheaper, and chemically identical to mined ones!

What ever you choose, be sure to post a pic!

I like soliatires, but I don’t like the way the head sits. It seems a bit too square. I would look for a different head or maybe a cathedral?

My first ring was a solitaire and while it was pretty, it wasn’t my style. I wouldn’t say I would be unhappy with the ring, but I prefer the style of my upgrade ring. But that’s just me. Doesn’t mean it’s a bad ring or anything. It looks really nice!
