Yes - I'd move anywhere in the world and never look back.

No - I wouldn't be willing to live internationally away from my family and friends.

Yes - My SO is not from the same country I am and I plan to relocate to be with him.

Yes - But only for a short period of time with a known end date.

    Other - explain below

We’ve talked about doing this in the future.  It depends on the country though.

I am just itching to move if Fiance gets transfered. He may have a chance to go to Germany. Or even anywhere else too for that matter as his is also an International Corporation. So I’m all packed up n’ ready! Tongue out

I really want to have kids soon after we get married so it’d be great if we can live somewhere where I don’t have to work and we can easily survive on his one income. That way I can raise the kids at home until they are big enough to take care of themselves and meanwhile take some distant courses and what not and keep my education at its peak. Then start working. At least it will take away a LOT of the parental stress we all go through here in N.A.

I did.  I moved from Germany to the US after I graduated from university.  It wasn’t always easy, but I would not want to miss this experience for anything in the world.  Best thing I have ever done!

We met abroad so we are always talking about moving internationally. Right now the plan is late 2012 or early 2013!

Wow, I’m surprised how many people answered yes! I guess I’m in the minority. I love to travel, but I don’t think I could actually move to another country, and be that far away from family & friends.

I’d definitely consider it because I’d want to be supportive of him and his career (he is planning to move to NY for me, so how could I say no straight out?), but having worked overseas for six years, I do feel a bit “been there done that” about the whole thing. It would really depend on the country and the package.

I think it’s a really fun concept but I’m too much of a homebody haha, I’d rather just travel a lot (:

I think this needs a poll option for “yes, depending on the place.” Italy? Oh hell yeah. Africa? Probably not. To me a lot depends on the place we’d be living.

I would be willing to ONLY if it were for a short period of time and wouldn’t hurt my career. We would have to weigh the benefits.

I would go anywhere with him! I’d go almost anywhere on my own too and have. Get out there! You can keep in contact with friends and family without being in the same town/country. I think it’s worth it and while not always easy makes your stronger and more open. (well hopefully;) I’ll be moving with my fiance to Australia in two months. Our third country together in two years.

I’ve been living overseas for the past 5 years! And most recently, my fiancee followed me to RUSSIA. That’s love.

It was the best opportunity for my career, and he has supported me every step of the way. Even though Russia was never on our “wish list” of places to be. But it’s all what you make of it. We are together, and that makes everything okay. And it’s fun to explore and discover new parts of the world together!

The worst thing you can do, in my opinion, is say “no” to an international opportunity. Say yes, and keep in mind that you’re only a plane ride away from home and nothing ever has to be permanent!

It depends on the circumstances and the country.  Some countries — Saudi Arabia is the first that comes to mind — would be a definite no.  Some countries would be ok for a short stint only.  There are some countries I might consider on a more open-ended basis.

My husband would have to make a LOT more money to make up for my salary hit though.
