I totally would have had I found my dress online first.

I knew the size and colour and if the dress was in good condition, hell yes!

I think my aversion to buying a dress on Ebay really has to do with the same aversion I have to wearing an heirloom ring that is not from within the family.  Regardless of what the person tells you the story is, you dont know the energy and story of the first bride.  I am a little into “energies” and I just want to put my positive energy and story into my dress and ring… if it were a family herloom from my grandparents 60 year marraige, thats different… just my thougths though… I know I’m a little crazy… lol..

Absolutely!  Technology has made things easy and cheaper for brides, which can really be a blessing.  There are so many options there now, Ebay being one of them.  I think it’s a slight risk, but so long as you take appropriate precautions (order well in advance in case something is wrong, make sure the seller is trustworthy, measure yourself accurately) I think it’s a great way to find a unique and/or inexpensive dress.  I have personally ordered several things over the years through Ebay and I would say I am satisfied with 90% of my purchases!

@cincychick35: Yes, especially if it was a very expensive dress or one that was no longer in production.

No I would not. I simply MUST try on a garment before I buy it. I dont buy clothes online in general I’m tall with a long torso and tend to never fit into the size I thought I would.

Absolutely. I wish I could have found my dress on Ebay. If you ask me, paying an exorbitant amount of money on a dress that’s going to be worn for a few hours is ridiculous. Mine was only $800 and I still think that’s too much money. If I could have scored my dress for a fraction of the price from a women who wore it once for a few hours, I would have been happy as a clam. Get it professionally cleaned and you’re all set!

Definitely would! I searched for my dress in my size on ebay and the preowned sites before I placed the order, but I couldn’t find it  🙁 I love ebay though!!

I did … bought this Maggie for $400 brand new (tags still attached, came in one of those fancy storage boxes.  I don’t believe in “energies” and considered it a great deal.

The only negative is not being able to try it on ahead of time (obviously).  I tried other dresses on and wore a size 8 so I bought this dress in a size 8.  It came and fits perfectly everywhere except in the bust (even the length is perfect).  For $400, I can afford to have it altered to fit.

I would just make sure you check feedback and know that you’re buying from a reputable seller.  This is my dream dress that I otherwise couldn’t afford.

I am in love with ebay. If the seller has good ratings and is polite about answering questions and whatnot then of course I would (and I did, mine was a china gown but I made the purchase through ebay). Ebay has become one of my best buddies. Plus their buyer protection is amazing, they are very buyer friendly.

@cincychick35: My cousin bought a designer dress on ebay for 300 bucks and it was perfect!  Just research the seller and if its what you want… go for it!

@CatyLady:  I wanted Phillipa and thought it was very close (the seller wasn’t sure and said it looked pretty close).  Upon comparing it to the Phillipa once I had it, there are definitely some differences with the beading and appliques (Phillipa has more).  I’m totally satisfied with it though and love it just the same.
