Does anybody have an experience with purchases from Kay’s? My SO and I were looking around at bridal rings in there yesterday and I wanted to know from the HIVE is that a good place to go to. If not or you know of better do tell!!!!

I used to shop with an ex at Kays a lot and had no problems. If they have what you like with the quality that you like, then I don’t see why you wouldn’t purchase from there. That being said, my Fiance and I purchased my rings from Shane Company and I couldn’t be happier.

Nope. Everything in that store is marked up. You can probably get better quality online and for less. You are always going to pay more at a mall chain store.

Well that’s where my Darling Husband got my engagement ring. It is a gorgeous Leo Diamond so I am not complai ing. However I did not have any good experiences with them. I originally wanted to buy this pearl and diamond pendant and tear drop earring set for the wedding but the price was too much for my budget. However I couldn’t stop thinking about them so I went and put a deposit on the set with assurances from the manager that they would be on sale soon with a huge discount. So the “big” sale rolls around and much to my chagrin, barely anything came off the price! I was majorly PO’ed and made them give me my deposit back and found a beautiful set elsewhere for a much more reasonable price. I only go there now to get my e-ring inspected and cleaned to preserve the warranty.

My fiance and I shopped around at almost all the big name jewelers, and Kay was BY FAR the most expensive of all the jewelers!

I actually got my ring from Kay’s, they gave us a deal and the people who work there are fab to work with (at least in my area) I have never had a bad thing to say about them.

@Miss Tattoo: Agree.
Also, look at local jewelry stores. Educate yourself online – print out the prices of stones that are similar to the one you want and then ask the local jeweler if they have anything similar. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Good luck! 🙂

From the other post:
My Fiance and I got our wedding bands from there and so far we haven’t had any problems so far. For the warranty, they stand by all their diamonds (as long as you take it in every 6 months to get it checked), and then you can purchase a lifetime warranty for like $70-80 bucks to cover the gold replating, etc. They’ve been really helpful and were even able to get my 2mm band engraved!
The only problem is when Fiance noticed a little tarnish in his gold band after sending it in to get cleaned and then engraved after getting home under the better light. He took it in to get it looked at, and the saleswoman was kind of rude and didn’t believe him, but since the ring was covered under the gold lifetime warranty we sent it in to get rebuffed anyways , but she didn’t want to write down that it was “tarnished” on the order form. But the other salespeople in the store have been great and otherwise our experience has been pretty good. Good luck!

My engagement ring is a Neil Lane from Kay’s and it’s absolutely gorgeous. The staff at our local store are amazing and have called me to let me know they are having a sale next week before the Superbowl to come in and look at wedding rings. They always remember who we are when we come in and are always willing to bend over backwards. In fact, the day my fiancee went to go pick up my ring so he could propose, my actual ring had not come in yet (he had a family diamond put in it) so they just gave him an identical ring to give me until our ring was in. I would say that was very generous of them to loan a $5,000 ring out to someone.
