Isn’t that what being engaged is?

If no one asked the question, I wouldn’t say you two are engaged.

That’s a toughie! Usually AT LEAST a formal proposal is required…

If you have set a date, then I’d call it official.

Do you mean you’ve spoken about who you’d like to have in your bridal party or you’ve asked them?

i think it depends on two things:

1. If one of you has said “will you marry me” or words to that effect.

2. If the conversations you’ve had have been just casual, “my ideal wedding” talk or serious realistic ones, i.e there is a big difference between saying, “I’d love to get married in Vegas one day” “that sounds like a good idea” and “Shall we get married in Vegas?”

My Darling Husband  knew we were going to get married from quite early on but I wouldnt say we were engaged then.

The fact you are making these plans is definitely a positive sign

You mentioned finding the perfect place. Did you book the venue? Did you explicitly agree to get married? If yes to either of those questions, I’d say that you’re engaged.

If you’ve agreed to be married and are already making concrete wedding plans, then by definition you are most certainly engaged. You don’t need a ring or even a proposal.

I would say until he’s asked you to marry him, you’re still making plans. But hey, making plans is the beginning of being engaged! My fiance and I talked often about our wedding before we were engaged. He even had my ring for 8 months or so before he proposed!

If you two are getting married, you should just ask him if you guys are engaged.

Fiance hasn’t asked me yet. We are still getting the ring in order and he is adamant that it be done right Before proposing. Ring will be done in about a month. However everyone knows we are getting married, venue in Vegas is booked and we are getting everything in order. So my guess is we are engaged. im guessing you are too

He hasn’t asked you to marry him, and you haven’t asked him to marry you. Therefore, you are just making plans at this point, not officially engaged.

I think you’re engaged when you’ve set a date. I don’t think a ring or formal proposal is necessary (but nice!)
