@Navy_Wife:I’d call…especially because of the color. Chances are that everything is totally normal but it’s always better to be safe 🙂

I would also call the dr since it’s been going on so long.

May be silly, but are you drinking green Gatorade? When I was pregnant, constipation was way more of an issue than the other way due to the prenatal vitamins.

It isn’t normal to have diarrhea for so long, especially a few weeks. Every time?

@Navy_Wife:The fact that it’s been ongoing for that long though and the color may make them see it differently. I’m not sure how to judge between good pregnant diarrhea and possibly problematic diarrhea but they would definitely know lol. Good luck!

I think I would call, the colour and duration of the diarrhea seem odd/concerning.

Calling to be safe wouldn’t be a horrible thing!

However, I was waiting to see if you said PURPLE! was your color of choice.  Purple food dye when processed by the body makes your poop BRIGHT GREEN!  I know this only cause hubby and I love Fierce Grape and Grape Koolaid and went through a bunch of it one month to both have BRIGHT green poopies.  Google purple food coloring and you’ll be rest assured that’s why you’re having that color diarreah.

Why you’ve had it so often is beyond me.  Anything new in your diet?

@nskillet: yep, you are right, I just logged on to say that — purple or black dyes will come out green!!

OP — I’d call the dr just b/c of the diarrhea but I bet it’s hormonal.

purple stuff actually turns green on the way out… haha… (at least with me!)

however, if it’s BRIGHT green, then you could have some gallbladder stuff going on… (the bile it secretes is very green) i would definitely get that checked out!!! better safe than sorry!

I’ve heard that it is very normal. Some people get constipated, but I have heard a few people that have had the exact opposite problem for an extended period of time, like you. BUT, that being said, because it can cause dehydration, I would probably call my doc just to make sure. Plus, it’s better for them to have that written in your charts, in case they need to prescribe any type of medication (diarrhea can sometimes hinder absorbtion of medication) or in case you have other symptoms.

I’ve called my doctor on things that I thought were really stupid – but it was always reassuring to hear from them that these symptoms were totally normal. I wouldn’t want to wait and then weeks later when there’s a major complication say, “oh yeah, that did happen for a few days and I thought it was no big deal”

besides – they’re used to all these “silly” calls/questions 🙂
