I love it, I think its beautiful.  I think they both complement eachother nicely and I especially love the gold and blue together. But,  I definitely would not wear them together, it is kind of one or the other so I would make sure wearing your ering as a rhr would not hurt your FI’s feelings since I know mine would kind of be crushed.

#1.  Your ering is gorgeous!!!

#2.  IMO, I love the sapphire yellow gold band as well.  I think it would make a fine wedding band.

I think it’s a very unique and beautiful wedding band! – (yellow gold one) It is definitely different (like your ering) and makes a real statement. I love it!

LOVE the sapphire with gold wedding band, especially with your e-ring on your right hand! They “go” together without being matchy, which I really like!

Voting for sapphire band on left hand, and switching ering to right!  Great combo!

I really really like it! and I also love teh idea of waering it as a stand alone ring.

@batamont:  If you’re worried about damaging the stones, sapphires are second only to diamonds in hardness, so they’re very sturdy. If you’re more worried about the ring getting caught in machinery or something, and hurting your finger… that’s also possible with a plain band, but would be slightly more of a concern with the sapphire ring because it’s taller and the prongs are extra points for something to catch on.

So, I have to say, I’m digging that ring.  I’m a sapphire girl as well, and I’m wearing an antique sapphire ring.  I think the one you like has character.  If it works for you then you should definitely go for it.
